Should I buy a dropped domain?

I have one main site and I made a new "SILO" about a specific product (I'm an affiliate) but right now the main site has a lot of silos and none of them is ranking (its been a year ), so I'm thinking on redirecting this silo to another domain.

I found a domain that is on my niche. It was first registered in 2006, but it has been dropped for 2-3 years now ( 2016).

It doesn't have any backlinks. and it costs 12$.

Is this domain useful? Does it help me avoid the "sandbox" or does google see it as a new website?

domains lose their reputation and treated as new domains after 180 days of being deleted (180 days since google bot find them the first time, you can read more here)
So, you're like buying a new domain and it doesn't have any backlink. So, it's a total zero of powers...

Stay with the current and do more work, do not give up if you think you can achieve and it's worth it!

That link is when you change the domain name, it doesn't have nothing to do with expired domains.

But, maybe you are right.

Well, you are right that's about changing the website domain. But, I don't think Google will treat the new site as an unrelated site and give it the same age advantage as the old one. That's what I can personally understand and makes logic for me.
However, maybe I'm wrong. Let's wait, I'm sure there are enough people who have good experience with that. And by any luck, one of them will reply!

Lately in the PBN "community" it is not recommended to get a dropped domain because it will not offer you any SEO benefits. You will not get out of the sandbox faster.

yeah go ahead if it has just 1 drop, i haven't seen so many domains which were not spammed and had over 1 drops.
