Many of the big youtubers also took the route of paid views. Eventually they started getting lot of views and recovered all the costs.

Bro the monetization requirements are not even a minimum. If you can't create videos in some format relating to some niche or trend that generate 4000 watch hours, you don't have a hope at the youtube game.
Use whatever tricks you can to benefit your success but there is only one rule. Content content content.
Improve your content. And whatever any of these other idiots try to say in 10000 words or less, ignore.
Why do you watch a video? Start there. Provide value. Informative or entertainment.
Bonus rule : money loves speed. Get up early and get after it. Or find a new business.
