SHOULD I BE SCARED??? Google & civil subpoena

Can you give any indication at ALL as to what niche you're in?

And also;

1) Give a "fuck no" to the request for your private info
2) CONTACT A LAWYER.

There is a mod named "Webwork" he is a lawyer and know about laws over the internet. Do not contact him directly, just post in the right category and hope that he will help. Change your title and add something like "Lawsuit" or something similar I am sure he will give you some advice.

Interestingly, you did not receive a certified notice and you were not served in the traditional sense of the term.

One issue that I see is your personal information (campaigns, earnings and so on) would be given to whom?

Where did the email come from? Your account is still current and so on.....that is good.

If it is a class action lawsuit, then one scenario is that someone may be seeking damages as a result of winning a judgement in court. In the process of gathering information for such a lawsuit, there may be a request for records of some sort.

The problem is that this is part of the "Discovery" process.

Now, it could be Google that is being sued by disgruntled AdWords users. Who knows?

Still, if that were the case, then most users of Adwords would get the same email.

I have to say that it is highly suspicious, in that only email was used to correspond with you........

No letters. No certified letters. No Notices Served in the traditional legal sense.

Very unusual.

I am not a lawyer, but this whole thing is very troublesome.

It is an email and therefore, how can you really verify that it is legitimate.

Be very careful, my friend.

This is no legal advice, but I would verify the authenticity of said email, first. And I would NOT allow anyone access to my private information, period!

There must be a suit filed somewhere in some jurisdiction. Why that was not mentioned in the email, is beyond me.

If it turns out to be legitimate, get a lawyer immediately.

Something does not sound quite right here......

Wanted to add, that there seems to be quite a bit of this going around, albeit for various other reasons. Just Google google civil subpoena.......and check out the results.

Look at result number 2!

I dont know why so many people are saying be very afraid. Of what? When I was younger a few years ago I used to get threats from big major companies using there "domain name" in my domains and it used to scared the crap outta me then I read books about war and etc and now I just laugh at them.
Use common-sense strategy in life and you will be good as gold, if you use chance then you will have nothing.

"The victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory."
