Trying to grow my facebook group and I have modified my Facebook Profile to match the branding and promote the group. Do you think it's a good idea to allow search engines outside of facebook to link to the profile?

Social signals are always good, no matter where they come from inside FB or any other SM site

Yes of course, If you allow the facebook profile or group in search engine It is credibility for your brand promotion.
