Should an expired domain be indexed before being redirected?

Hello,

I plan to redirect an expired domain to my money site. Those of you who are more experienced with this tactic, how do you handle it?

I mean, do I have to index this domain before the redirect, or can I just register the expired domain & redirect it?

Redirect all 404 to homepage

Index the Homepage and Then Redirect
 
Try to index it first then make a redirect. I would be better.
 
I would redirect all other pages to homepage and then try to index my homepage, after your homepage is indexed you can redirect it

definetely index first then redirect in the meantime if bots comes to check btw it happens more than people think which i made a test for that.

Its bad for your purpose
 
You have to update yearly subscription year after year or in bulk. You can make it auto renewal as well.

When working with an expired domain, no matter what you want to do with it. It's recommended to first restore the domain/site and get it indexed before starting any venture on it.

Straight up: always good to re-index an expired domain before redirecting. This helps to ensure the juice and value from the domain gets transferred. If Google hasn't indexed the expired domain, the backlinks pointing to it might not provide the expected benefit to your money site.
 
You don't necessarily need to index the expired domain before redirecting it. Register it, set up the 301 redirect properly, and google should recognize it take time.

On my opinion , you can redirect the expired domain to your main site without needing to index it separately, but make sure the expired domain is relevant and doesn't have a bad history to avoid possible SEO problems
