Should a Developer Buy a Macbook?

So does as 49" curved screen. But oh boi .. it helps..

I agree on the big screen it's a day/night difference but not on buying super expensive pc unless you can justify it.

This is the architecture of stack overflow it can run on a potato using linux so if OP is working alone and needs an M2 then he's overcomplicating his stuff.

Should I really explain driving amg mercedes to person asking what is difference from taking a local bus? yes yes, both will get to the destination but in this case it's not about that but the enjoyment of the ride. Its like getting that big screen. or really comfy chair. do we really need it to be able to work? for most of the times no, but if work by computer is what we do 16 hours a day then why not make it the most of it.

even bhw can run on potato, its the traffic handling that requires the power, not the software.

I'd probably say buy what you are most comfortable with, it's really how you use the software that counts.

Nevertheless whether it's Mac, Windows or Linux they can all get the job done, there may be some exceptions but the most popular software used for development will run on all 3 platforms.

If fan noise is your main concern then don't get a laptop because they overheat. Build your own pc with good air flow or get a second hand one. If you are on the move constantly and must use a laptop then get a gaming one because they're designed to have good cooling. Mac is just a status symbol imo.
