In coming february 2023, Google will let users monetise shorts and ads will run there also. Are you prepared for this or have you changed your YouTube approach because of this change ?

Congrats to 99% of the money going to Mr. Beast shorts. Shorts are the weirdest thing. Surely after people start earning money the DMCA notices will start coming in fast. Right now almost all content on Shorts is ripped off.

The biggest create in terms of views are all original. Copy paste content will never do good as a channel in shorts. It is worst strategy because you are not even building a brand that can give sponsored deals.

I think you are using a different version of YouTube than me. I check my shorts feed: 3/5 recommended videos are copyright content taken from other sources with some text on the screen or some background music added.

Mr Beast videos and motivational videos (all content owned by other persons) are the highest-viewed shorts on YouTube I think.

You are wrong about it being the worst strategy. 99% of people are not capable or willing to create entertaining or interesting original content. So they can upload stolen content that gets a million views or bad content that gets 0 views.

You think original content with a good brand with 0 views is better than copy/paste? Be serious.

Have you seen any of the copied shorts on trending page ? Answer is no. There are always original shorts. This is what you should do for being relevant foe long term.

What % of creators do you think end up on trending page with their original uploads? Now what % of creators do you think maybe at least $2,000 per month? If you can't answer that, I think you are just talking crazy.

well we will have to spect new changes in how the shorts works and maybe changes in the algorithm now the'll be monetized, but I could be a great start and a easy way make money you won't have to prepare long videos now they need to be short, still let's see the new rules with this changes.

Well this its nice but i cannot get it how people are so succesful with shorts ,me barely i can get 10 views per videos even if i create my original videos with face on it etc .Seems like the altgoritm doesnt like me

I think shorts are good for graining subscribers. YT limits shorts views even if you have good numbers of likes, retention etc.
But now they can be good for earning also. They get lot of views and effort involved in making one is also very less.

One of the key bullet point in their release article is:
"Non-original Shorts, such as unedited clips from movies or TV shows, reuploading other creators' content from YouTube or other platform, or compilations with no original content added" - And those shorts views will not be counted for the program.

Will be interesting to see how they detect this ?

sadly youtube shorts arent performing well for most channels, except for og content creators/ when creator presence is there in a video.

I extract shorts from videos. I can't produce new content, mostly for shorts.

im not really optimistic about youtube shorts monetization, just yet.
based on the evidence we have about other platforms, such as tiktok, several people have already complained about how tiktok slashed their reach,
as soon as they were monetized.

on youtube, too many people are already joining shorts, so expect the competition to be very huge and the pie will have to be distributed more evenly.
with shorts monetization enabled , they may more strictly throttle your traffic , if not everyone can just make easy money on shorts.
expect the algo to be nerfed for those who monetize.

here are examples:

Still no ads on shorts, and it's 01.02.2023. Am I missing anything?

It was expected, so everyone is used to it by now
