Hello, I am trying to get a grip on how the business world works.

One of my acquaintances has an online business selling cell phones.

What he does is just go to something like the thomas registers and inquires about their prices... one by one...

Is there an easier way to get in contact with suppliers?

Also, suppose you were a supplier, how do you sell your product to stores?
I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to sell to your local mom and pop convenience store, but how about a more established name/corporation? Is it better to cold call by phone or simply show up in person?

In the mind of others, how do you establish legitimacy?

EDIT: In short, I just want most bang for my bucks, best deal kind of thing.
