At the moment, targeting long tail keywords with clear, focused content is giving the best results. Short, broad keywords are highly competitive and usually take longer to rank, while long tail keywords are less competitive and can bring in traffic much faster.

Short content can rank if it answers the query directly and clearly, especially for simple or specific searches. But in most competitive niches, longer, well-structured content performs better because it covers the topic fully and satisfies multiple intents in one page.

Right now, long-tail keywords are working better because they’re less competitive and bring more targeted traffic that actually converts. Short keywords still help with visibility, but they’re harder to rank for without strong authority. A mix of both usually gives the best results.

The Long tail is always preferable, But some cases this will change depending on the Niche and competition.
But the short keywords are mostly highly competitive, So you need to have a proper plan and strategy before you select to rank.

i think it depends on niche, in my personal experience i have face this issue. SaaS related Blog Post need Long tail KW most of the Time.

Currently long copy works better for me as it provides more details and engages the audience longer
