Just before the new year a friend approached me with an idea for a job-posting site. I would build the site and the tools to aggregate the content from elsewhere on the Internet and he would work on the marketing via Twitter, Facebook, etc. His idea was to build up traffic and then present ourselves as an outlet to companies looking to post jobs. He seemed confident of the plan and I wanted to help out
Flash forward almost six months and things are a little different. The site hasn't developed enough of a following that we can use it the way he intended. It averages about 300 hits a day, has a 70-80% bounce rate and the average time on site is less than a minute. I was thinking about affiliate ads, but affiliate programs won't sign off on us because of the lack of original content. I'm not sure what else is out there.
Basically we had the skills to put the site together, but not the strategy to make money off it. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!
