I started a faceless YouTube channel one year ago (motivational channel). To be honest, I started it as a way to learn how to make videos and get skills in editing, using IA tools to create the videos, etc. At the beginning, I was making long and short videos, but the ones that were really getting traffic and growing were the short videos. The long ones weren't getting any traffic (maybe 100 to 200 views, if lucky). So I focused mainly on short videos. Once in a while, I made long ones, but they all failed. On the other hand, some of the short videos were getting viral (I have one with 800k views).

So now I have a channel with 21.6k suscribers, but still strying to monetize it. It seems that the YT algorithm assumes my channel is for shorts and ignores my long videos. The problem is that it's almost impossible to monetize a short channel, even with viral videos. The numbers to reach the monetization point is ridiculous (10 millions visualizations for shorts). I tried making only long videos for two weeks to "tell" the YT algorithm I don't have only a short video channel, but it's not working.

So now I'm thinking about doing something else, because it takes a lot of time making these videos (even if they are short). I create the videos carefully and try to make them interesting and with good quality (it's not one of those softwares that make the video for you). What would you do at this point?

I was thinking about buying visualizations to reach those 4000 hours that I need to monetize the channel. I know it's not the advisable thing to do, but I don't want to waste more time creating long videos that nobody will see. The good thing is that I've learned a lot in the past year, so I could start a new channel about anything (maybe I should do that). But with a channel with almost 22k subscribers, I think it's a shame to let it go. Thank you.

With 21.6k subs, your shorts get views but long videos don’t. Best move: either start a new channel for long content or focus on turning your shorts into longer, engaging videos. Avoid buying views.

I think shorts are best for motivational videos. People use those short videos to put on their status, etc. I think the niche is the issue. Even if you buy views and monetize but you won't make much money, as your long-form videos dont get much views. I think this niche will fetch 50 cents per 1000 views

Your channel gets views mostly from shorts, so YouTube keeps pushing your shorts and not your long videos, since shorts viewers usually don’t watch long content. That’s why your long videos don’t get many views, even with 22k subs. For monetization, you need either 1,000 subs + 4,000 watch hours (long videos) or 1,000 subs + 10M valid views in 90 days (shorts). Shorts grow fast but pay less, while long videos are harder to grow. The best move is to keep your current channel for shorts and start a new channel focused on long videos.

Thank you for all the answers. So I suppose there's no way to change the algoritm so it can consider my channel as a long video channel. Too bad. I'll have to start a new YT channel, but this time it will be a more profitable one.
