Short and long form videos on the same channel

Hello everyone! I started a channel from scratch and i only have 7 normal videos uploaded. Now i am thinking about uploading some shorts. Do you think is it good for the channel or it is bad mixing them? Thank you!

Mixing is fine. You will also get idea of what is working better for channels. And now shorts will also have ads running.

Its better to make a separate channel for shorts. It can work together but most of the views will go towards shorts.

Shorts are suited for awareness creation, if your channel makes money without depending on a lot of attention then I'd say that you should go for a separate channel because shorts might take most of your views, leaving your videos unwatched.

Or maybe you could just link shorts to your videos? Mix and match and do what works best for you in your case.

I'm actually seeing this strand quite a bit.

A lot of established channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers are mixing things up when it comes to their content.

They would have YouTube shorts right next to longer pieces of content on their channels.

I definitely see this trend becoming more and more popular.

There might be something to it, otherwise these big channels wouldn't bother to do it.

You might want to do the same.

But of course, pay close attention to the tags that you're using as well as viewer patterns because at the end of the day, your YouTube channel's success depends on how well you cater to the actual needs of your viewer base.
