Shopify + Dropshipping From Scratch

OP I'm from lion city too!!! Hahah
Great thread, Truly enjoy reading it.
Following your journey while on my internship

Hey man! Nice to meet you. I wish you goodluck in your internship :)

Keep the updates coming! Enjoying this so far. Instagram is a powerful traffic source.

I totally agree on that! IG is a very good traffic.

Where do you living? For non-US user payment gateway is too painful

I'm living in Singapore. Sg is in one of Stripe's country too.

Looks like this is yet another aborted journey...kan na sai ;)

Nope bro, never did aborted it. Never did had time to update since I was busy doing the this site.Hope you understand :)

Hello everyone!

Sorry for the not updating for quite some time.
I ended the first month of trial with $90+ USD profit.
I was quite happy but I feel it wasn't enough as I made a mistake on not growing my brand first on Instagram.

With that profit I paid my monthly payment of massplanner and proxies(as I've been growing ig accounts in other niches too since late year).
I also paid for shopify fees for the next month but I kind of stop everything due to personal thinking. As I said, I realise I made a mistake on not growing my instagram account first. Currently it's at 700+ followers and I have 3 other accounts in the same niche supporting it.

Even though I did paid for the shopify payments, I'm gonna stop the dropshipping and I'm doing something similar. I use to sell(in the same niche in my local market but not with Shopify. I know there's not much competition here so I'm gonna aim for that. I'm sticking with the same supplier when I was doing this before as his price is one of the cheapest and his quality is better than the rest. I also partnered with one of my friend and splitting 50/50 profit, since I need his help in quality wise and it's always better to have someone to help you with wrapping and mailing as I remembered I was suffering in the past while I'm going to the post office with so many items just to mail them out.

So for the past 2 weeks I've been editing my store and adding items in. I'm also growing my IG account in the mean time. Luckily for me, I never deleted the pictures of my past batches order which I took with my phone and uploaded them on my IG for proof purposes.

I launched my new website yesterday, 13/4/2017 and it got my first sale which the person bought two items.
Take note though the currency is in SGD and not USD while I was doing the dropship.

My friend and I was actually quite shock at even getting the first sale and the customer bought two items at once. :) Profit is only around half of that. It's a good start and I'm hyped for more. There is still so many items to be added to the store and well, I'm gonna add at least 5 items per day manually.

My IG for this is growing quite fast than I expected. I also have a twitter fan based account for this at 300++ currently. I'm gonna make a promotional tweet soon since I realise most of my local people in the teens/young adults are using either twitter or FB but I'm not gonna go to FB ads.( maybe in the future? idk but not now).

Alright that's all for now, wishing all of you a good day ahead.

Short Update

Hello everyone! Just a short update.
I got another sale yesterday and the traffic was still only from Instagram.

3006yjt.png

What did I do today?

  • Added 5 more items to my store.
  • Made a google docs document of all the items and links. Even though it's from the same supplier, I find it easier this way and much more neater than bookmarking it on chrome.
  • Finally updated my twitter account with pictures and added bio.
  • Added 4 products from my store and updated it on my Instagram account.

Hello everyone!
It's been more than a week since my last update.
Reason is being is because I've been busy interacting with customers with their inquiries.

These are the sale stats since the last update, which is this week.

Kinda happy that I'm growing this fast and getting this kind of sales with just my store IG account.
Profit is 50% of that so it's around $200+ profit for this week.

What I plan for this coming week?

I'm scaling up more IG accounts since I've already had massplanner IG edition since I'm growing other niches in the meantime.
What I'm planning is to redirect the followers to my website and hoping if I get more conversations.
I'm also gonna change some of my website codes for the website speed as its currently at 4.1 seconds.

I apologise for the short update since I didn't do anything much and only getting sales from IG.
I will share the result of my test when I scale up to more IG accounts :)

Hi...Congrats on your journey...am also from Singapore and hopefully you can guide me on how do you let the followers click on your link?

Do you simply follow/unfollow and likes ? doing that all day?

Looking forward to your replies.

Thanks

Hey man, congrats on you success! Good job :) Yesterday I got my first sale too. Quit exciting :) So you grow your niche IG accs by doing follow/unfollow thing and then shoutout to shop account?

Hello there!
Yes I'm doing F/U with Massplanner. Nope not all day, I usually stick with low settings. :)

Hey man! Thank you very much! :) And congrats to you too my friend.
I totally agree, the excitement when you get the first sale just keeps you driving for more.
Yup, I did F/U and the 1/2 Punch method which I learned from Gramous Ebook. :D
I have not yet did any shoutout to my shop account as I currently don't have any niche account based on my country.
Although I grew alot of other niches, my shop is only for my own country which is Singapore so I can't use any of those niche accounts.
I will make a few this week and grow them then!

Awesome man!

Sure thing bro :)

Hey man! Thank you very much.
Well, what I could say is just go with it once you got the important parts down.
It took me quite a long time to get started as I thought reading would made me learned better.
But trust me, doing it will make you learn so much more :)

If you're not going for the Ads method, don't worry about spending money actually.
I would suggest you growing social media account right now before you even start as that will be a big boost for you when you launched your store as you already have a fan base.
Plus when I first started out, I only invest $10 on domain in namecheap.
Although you could get the $1 from Godaddy :)

Thanks for share buddy ;)

You're welcome! :)

Hey there! Thank you very much :)
Yup people in Singapore HARDLY uses eBay. Most of them would use Qoo10(Gmarket) or Carousell.
I'm not sure about amazon since I myself don't use that for my own personal things.
I highly doubt that actually.
But then again, carousell is more to meetups.

Thank you bro! :) That's great, I'm sure you would succeed man! Don't give up and keep on hustling!
Yes that's quite true once you get the right products.
But I'm not dropshipping anymore actually, I imported the products from my personal supplier myself and then just mail them out:)

Hello.
Well I've never used FB ads throughout my whole journey or even plan using fb or ig ads.. My success have been from free traffic if you read the whole thread :)

Nice work mate. What is your shipping lead time to customers like? And do you find customers moaning if its to long?

Hello fellow dropshipper! I'm living in Singapore as well and I started my journey few weeks ago.
Difference from mine is that, I am hesitant to use Shopify due to the monthly cost. I am using WP and I'm maintaining the site myself.

Anyway, congrats on your journey!

(I smiled when I saw your telco provider. HAHAHA. Fellow starhub user!)

Hey there! Well as It's 3-4 days for my supplier to send it to me. I use air shipment which cost around $2+ per 500g so it's fine for me. :) usually around a week. I would then pack it up and send it to my customer straight on the same day.
And well when I was doing preorder for items for my local people, I did stated 2-3 weeks and even when the item came a month later, it's fine as I regularly update them with updates.

Hello there! Nice to meet a fellow Singaporean!
Well, what I did was if I could not earned in the first month, I would just create a new store and that was what I did as this is my second store and I'm just selling it to SG people. :) I always wanted to learned WP but well, I found shopify easier so I guess I don't mind paying for the cost haha.

Thank you very much! ;) glad to meet a singaporean like you too!

UPDATE

Hello, everyone!
It's been so hectic lately due to replying customers and etc.
But it have all been worthwhile.
This are the sales stats for the last week of April.
35avqsx.png

The total sales of April,
jh795u.png

My profit is half of that(more of that actually) so it's around $800 SGD(?)
Note that it is only from 13th April - 30th April as I only official launched this new store on 13th April.
I'm kinda excited with this as it is going better than I ever expected.

For the month of April, I only ran it with only one instagram account(most traffic here), twitter account(but no sales from here) and promoting through my local web like ebay.
I now use two 6th months old IG account laying around and redirecting all traffic to my main store.
I don't think I will be going to any paid ads since IG is working well for me. After 7 months of playing with massplanner and IG, I believe that I somehow manage to do it correctly without any PVA or bans.
Now, time to scale out more accounts and see how things goes :)
