They are so different it is like comparing apples to oranges. What do you like better about Etsy?

It really depends on your goal.
Etsy is a ready-made marketplace. You get instant traffic, easier conversions, and very fast setup. It’s great for testing ideas, digital products, and quick cash. The downside is heavy competition, limited control, fees, and the risk of store suspension. You don’t really build a brand on Etsy — you’re renting space.
Shopify is your own store. No built-in traffic, but full control over pricing, funnels, pixels, email, and branding. It’s more work and costs more upfront, but much safer long-term and easier to scale with ads. Better for dropshipping, private label, and brand building.
Short answer (BHW style):
- Quick tests / short-term money → Etsy
- Ads + scaling + brand → Shopify
- Digital products / low effort → Etsy
- Dropshipping / funnels / LTV focus → Shopify
Etsy is faster. Shopify is stronger.
Pick based on whether you want quick wins or long-term control. also theres have couple thins china tax ,trump tarrifs etc....

Scraping Shopify stores will only give you public surface data like products and prices. Revenue and visitor traffic are not exposed anywhere and cannot be scraped directly. Anything claiming to provide those numbers is just an estimate based on third party signals and assumptions, often with large error margins. Building something reliable here is more of a data modeling and inference problem than a scraping task, and the accuracy will always be limited.
Thanks for your insights, I'll take this into consideration. I never heard of data modeling before, I'm interested in learning more.

Data modeling is basically about inferring hidden signals from incomplete or noisy data. In this case you are not extracting numbers directly but building assumptions around public signals and testing how well they correlate with reality. If you are curious, start by looking into basic statistics, conversion funnels, and how people estimate metrics when direct access is impossible. That foundation matters more than any scraping technique here.
Thanks for the insight, I'll look a little more into this. This might be a amateur question, but is there softwares that have the pre-build and I can plug & play?
