Hi,

I was wondering, if i register a .com or. shop domain with a bulletproof registrar somewhere in China - can it still be seized?

For com - i suppose so, but how about (dot)shop?

Any ideas?

Yes, even if you register a .com or .shop domain with a bulletproof registrar in China, it can still potentially be seized. .com domains are managed by Verisign, a US-based company, making them subject to US jurisdiction. .shop domains, managed by GMO Registry, can also be subject to legal actions, depending on international agreements and the specific circumstances

Interesting...

Heard that (dot)to and (dot)su are good domains for virtually anything.

Any other ones i should be aware of?

It's just an AI answer
It's possible to have a domain seized in China, but highly unlikely to happen, unless you want to create something related to their politics

You might also consider (Dot)onion for anonymity or (dot)me for personal sites :)

Seizing domains is messy, even in China.

  • .com: Risky! US can seize it if it breaks their laws, even with a Chinese registrar.
  • .shop: Less clear, China might have some control but not guaranteed.
Bulletproof registrars offer some shield, but it's not perfect. Domain seizures are complex.

Focus on legal activities - safer for your domain and avoids trouble!

Although .com or .shop domain names registered in China are usually managed by international organizations, they may still be affected by Chinese laws and regulations. If the content of the domain name violates Chinese laws, such as involving sensitive topics or illegal activities, both .com and .shop may be suspended or confiscated by Chinese registrars. Therefore, ensuring that the use of domain names is legal and compliant is the key to avoiding such risks.

nerve is a domain to 100%(e.g Cnobin/BIZCN).. out which are longer than namecheap domains etc
use best .to & .su/.ru domains
