Shock or Awe ...

    Hi ... about one year age, February 2012, my web site had just under 4 million links to its 1500 pages. As of yesterday, the same web site has 890 links to about 100 pages. Perhaps it's a mistake or a fluke, as my web site shows on page one of SERP, mostly, for 36 key terms. I wonder what happened? Am I stuck with 890 links after almost seven years of WH link building? Good grief. What do you think? Thanks. dgp

    Wow.. 4million/1500 down to 890/100... Is this normal??

    If the backlinks drop you see is in google webmaster tools, you have to be aware that they admit its a bug on their system. So, you don't have to worry until they fix the bug.

    The 4 million "white hat" backlinks statement is a bit hard to swallow, but if true then the backlink checking tool(s) you're using is inaccurately reporting your backlinks.

    If your site is still ranking, then I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
