But I said this many times over the years and I still ship to Mexico lol.
Main reason why is because I'm not shipping really expensive orders there (under $100),
so considering how much money I can make from the orders that go well and the orders that don't,
I figured keep trying and see what you can learn.
Well, I had an order that was made back on Oct 21, 2019 by an Mexico buyer ($20 value) and shipped it out using standard air mail (DHL eCommerce/globalmail). It gets handed over to Correos de Mexico and from their you can track the package. It was held in customs since Nov 2nd. Still there today lol.
The mexican buyer messaged a few times over the weeks and finally he got some info from correos de mexico and he sent me what they told him through email. This is what they need for this $20 item to be released from customs (translated):

I inform you that the Customs Verifier at the time of reviewing your shipment LW46226XXXXX, for the determined content that needs to be released through the services of a Customs Agency, as well as an “Import Permit” before the Federal Commission for Risk Protection Sanitarios (COFEPRIS), not forgetting to comment that it is protected by Correos de México.
So if you decide to hire a Customs Agent:
The Customs Broker must appear at the facilities of the Benito Juárez Air Dispatch Center at Av. Captain Pilot Aviator Carlos León S / N Federal Zone of AICM, Col. Peñón de los Baños, C.P. 15622, Venustiano Carranza Delegation, Mexico City, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the following documentation as the case may be:
PHYSICAL PERSON.
Submit a power of attorney, one addressed to the AICM Customs Administrator (only the position, no name) and one to the Mexican Post Office specifying the guide number, internal control number, mentioning the name of the Customs Agency that you hired, number of The patent and based on Article 55 of the Customs Law, the guide and the internal control number, are cited in this notice sent to your home.
* Copy of the official identification of the recipient
* Copy of the processor badge
* Cutter and letterhead of the Customs Agency
* Each power of attorney must come with copies of the identifications of the recipient and the processor
* Copy of the notice (if you have one)
MORAL PERSON.
Submit power of attorney duly signed by the legal representative of the company. Join the Customs Administrator of the AICM (Only the position, no name) and one to Correos de México specifying the guide number, internal control number, mentioning the name of the Customs Agency that you hired."

are they joking around ? Who on earth is actually going to go through all this work just over a $20 perishable item? What were all those articles, agencies, companies, documents, signs, etc.
It makes me laugh.
I'm just going to refund the buyer LOL and hopefully get my refund from the supplier.
If anyone can actually explain or clarify what on earth is up with Mexico, please explain!

with nothing required.
