Shared Hosting vs VPS/Dedicated

I've started a Amazon Journey here and the I would like some advice.

Shared Hosting vs VPS/Dedicated

I've setup a dedicated server before, I know it's way more trouble than a shared hosting, however when you're on a shared hosting, you don't know what the hell other customers are doing with their site. I'm worried that it might affect my site, either by speed because they're running so many things and they're taking all the juice or because they spam the shit out of their website and it affects my ranking because we're on the same IP? Am I worrying to much? Also, I know VPS is on a shared server too, but at least you have dedicated resources.

Any thought? Am I just paranoid?

You can do a reverse IP lookup to see who else is sharing your website's IP. Most hosts will change it on request if you're concerned with who else is there.

If you're having speed issues try changing your nameservers over to CloudFlare.
 
Well. You can simply setup your VPS. Another solution to get Dedicated Ip for you shared hosting from you web hosting provider.
 
Dedicated IP is the solution for you. The intermediate solution is a VPS if you want to have a full access to the administration, managed if you do'nt want but still want to benefit from the advantages of a VPS.

How much does a Dedicated IP normally cost, and does most provider offer that option? Still need to choose where to host.
Also, an unmanaged VPS vs Dedicated. I would guess it's exactly the same thing in terms of installing Linux, apache, php... I do all these things by myself? What about backups, is it already done for me on a VPS?

Just wondering if it's easier to manage a VPS alone vs Dedicated.

Yes, many providers if not all have the option for you to have a dedicated IP on shared web hosting.

When it is unmanaged, everything all hardware non related, has to be done by you.
Some providers goes a bit further on this matter (I know we do, as it is a bit weird to have customers being blocked on tiny details and hiding behind "hey it is unmanaged, handle it on your own").

In terms of management, i would say a VPS is a bit harder since you have generally less resources and some custom configuration might be required. For the same amout of resources or not a busy website it is the very same.

There are also managed providers, in which case you would have nothing to worry about.

Shared hosting from you web hosting provider, There is a only solution to get dedicated ip for you.
 
If you are planning on growing your site and you have the funds I would recommend a dedicated server to start with.

I know a ton of people will say shared is fine. Yes it is it will do the job for now.

But if you dont want to worry about what other people are doing that could take your site off line because of this or that. Then Dedicated is the way to go.

If you got you a decent Dedicated server at 250 a month how many products would you have to sell to cover that cost. If you start with a dedicated then you wont have to worry about moving your site for some time. You can always upgrade the server. Then move into cluster as your needs grow.

You are right because if you use shared hosting then resources on your server will be share to the others.Which affect your site I think you should go for dedicated IP & VPS. It works better for you.
