Hello, in the past I used bluehost to start all my websites. At first everything was working great, but then I decided to purchase some SEO. My sites soon got sandboxed and it seems like any site I would start on bluehost would never get in search engines or rank well no matter how much SEO I did.

So my question is: Does using shared hosting effect all of the sites rankings in google?

I am now using host gator and have about 6 sites on there but I want to know if the same thing is going to happen with hostgator or should I be hosting every site on its own IP and not used shared hosting?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :D thanks

If there are other websites using the same ip as you then yes it will affect seo.

Shared hosting is ok. Are you sure that you know what you are doing for SEO?

Try using SEO hosting instead. They give you a different C-class IP for each website.
Umm no SEO hosting is intended for hosting blog networks and isn't good for money sites, as they usually have slower speeds/bandwidth limits etc. for optimal price.

I have no problem ranking sites on shared hosts, although you may have problems if you're grouped with many heavily spammed sites.

I don't think spammers bother with shared hosting these days - they more than likely hosting their sites in russia or china too much hassle to get banned all the time.

Probably your starting new sites - targeting keywords that are too hard - and doing too much seo -- these things kill new sites fast.

Thanks for the input everyone. I will stick to using shared hosting for now. I have been doing white hat SEO methods with my new sites on hostgator, so hopefully won't get a negative reaction from it.

i am having 3 site on hostgator working well
will share my seo experience with you on this sites

Agree with comments above. Don't overthink it too much. Many people fail to rank sites in the beginning and they are blaming hosting. I would say that hosting can affect your ranking only in one way - if it is slow. Rankings will drop because of site speed.

In all other ways I always recommend to use sharing hostings for small sites. There is no need to spend money in the beginning.

Shared hosting does not matter. If it did, every site on hostgator would be dead.....

You're setting other footprints which are getting you targetted....it's likely not the hosting.

OP, it is more likely that the SEO services you are using are getting you screwed.
Shared hosting shouldn't be the problem unless you are linking all your sites together.

The only time hosting will hurt you is if you have crappy hosting where your site is down all the time.

Whether you use a shared or dedicated host won't make a difference in terms of your search engine rankings.
