I used blogspot custom domain. And this is my stats. 150 articles, 500 - 800 words each. Some keywords even rank 1 on Google.

Yep you can do it.

Just recommend your own hosting account so if your site keeps growing you can grow you hosting plan/server along with it.

Google is a big company. I don't think Google will disable Blogspot in the near future. So I will keep getting the benefit from them, where I don't need to pay monthly hosting.

Logic:

If you have kids. After they grown-up and want to work with you. And there are other people who also want to work with you, which will you choose? Of course your own kids, Right? CMIIW
