Share for Discount

I run an ecommerce store that gets does decent, $XXX monthly. What is the general opinions on a share for discount "option" where a person makign a purchase can share the website or the purchase on Facebook/twitter/etc for like a 5% discount. Anyone tried this? I'm worried it might seem too unprofessional, would it cost me any sales?
