Only just realised this, is it worth signing up to? :)

Helpful comments will get thanks and reps :D

Generally I don't recommend this to my clients unless

1) They think their site is penalized to check and see if there are any notifications

2) They are hosting in one country and want to try and rank in a different country

It wouldn't hurt. I don't see how the extra information could be a bad thing.

I would avoid unless absolutely necessary as IE says.

All my sites got slammed back 50-500 places a couple of months ago with no notifications. They were mostly all in adsense and the main ones were in Webmaster Tools.

Since I removed them from GWT, all my non UK TLD.s - I am hosted in UK, are getting much more non-UK traffic so now I need to decide whether to target USA (changing the sites and many links) or go back into GWT for a few of them and set to target at UK again.

I am looking to stay off G's radar as much as possible nowadays. There's less risk of some slap then IMHO.

It probably really depends on what your goal for the site is. Like, if you are planning on selling it on flippa or something than it might be a good idea as it will make it easier to provide data to potential buyers. However, if you are just looking at doing in on a site you plan on keeping, then personally, I wouldnt do it. Although, I do engage in ample blackhattery and I dont want to make it easier for the G to figure out what I am up to.....probably just paranoia, but thats always been my thinking :-D

Looks like it really depends on what type of traffic you are going to drive to your site and if white hat or black hat I own a site and its been in g tools for 2yrs I think, have not had any problems but most of my traffic is from the US and the site is hosted in the US so nothing that would raise redflags in g eyes.
hope this helps
Regards
Suave
