Shadowban or not ??

Hi guys,

I have an instagram account with over 160,000 followers.

For about 2 months I have been making only 200 followers per day, whereas I am usually around 5/600.

In addition, my engagment has recently decreased. I thought I was shadowban but my account still appears in the tags if I look with an account that is not a follower.

I think it's because I used the same caption several times in a row (only explanation I see).

I tried to uninstall instagram for 1 week, I change my tags... but nothing happened

One of my competitors who hadn't posted for weeks started putting content again and he's now around 800 subscribers/day.

For your information, the problem is not my content which is good. Some of the posts I put at the beginning of the year 2020 which was 10 000 like are now 1500 I like when i posted them.

Do you have an explanation for my problem ?

You're not the only one complaining about this. IG and 2020 aren't compatible ; reach has decreased for many.

your account probably broke the instagram rules

Same thing has happened to me. I have an account of over 250,000 followers.

Since January 2021 I stopped gaining as much followers and started losing more followers than I was gaining. The only thing was the post engagement was still normal until the end of last month.

All of a sudden overnight my post engagement became extremely low. I was thinking maybe it was some sort of mistake by Instagram and it will rectify itself but it has been a whole month now and nothing has changed. There are pages with less than 50k followers who now have better post engagement than my page which is ridiculous. And just like you I know that it's nothing to do with the posts, because I tried reposting some posts which did well in the past and they not getting nowhere near as close to the same reach as before so this is definitely something to do with Instagram doing something to our account.

The worst thing is my competitors pages are fine and nothing has happened to there page so I'm wondering why has this happened to us and nobody else, we haven't done anything wrong and we haven't broken any rules.

Are you guys using the same hashtags for every post? Apparently using the same combination for all your posts could result in a shadowban, although I find this a little stupid

No, I change it depending on the type of post it is. But alot of my competitors are using the same hashtags and their post reach is functioning as normal and their pages are growing at a rapid rate

First of all, use different hashtags for each post. Do not stick to same hashtags. Also, focus on the Reels now. Optimize your content for Reels. Surely, you will see positive signs.

I can't speak for the OP but for my page Reels and normal posts have exactly the same post reach on my page right now.

I have tried switching between both of them, both have been nerfed.

And I always used to change hashtags on my posts according to what the post is

are you able to recover from shadowban?

Yes I think you got a shadowban. However, recent statistics say that IG resposivness has decreased,

It's all about having an healthy activity with your account, meaning that you can use all the features of the app, but most importantly, to not exceed the limits of any action + avoid automating your account.

At some point, it will come back. When ? No one can say
