Shadow banning again ...

Hi there!

Last months I faced the same situations.
A new account is warmed enough and website starts to receive a significant amount of traffic, let's say 4000 daily. One day traffic increased by several times, to 15000 daily.
And after a day or two traffic dropped more than ten times, to 1000 daily and got stuck there.
Almost all traffic that stays, comes from repins. Fresh pins bring almost 0.
The account is active, the website is not blocked.
I suppose it's some kind of shadow ban.

Has anybody faced the same problem?
Any advice is highly appreciated.

Same problem and I have no idea now.
About warm up your account, how did you do it?
I guess maybe something wrong, maybe the proxy ip, maybe I didn't pay attention to the details of warm up account.

How do you manage to drive 4k visits to your website from only 1 account. You have multiple accounts that are repining your pins from your main account? Thank you!

I can't say it depends on a proxy, according to my experience.
In sense of warming, I meant creating boards, adding first pins, optimizing descs. Doing everything before starting to pin regularly on a daily basis.
It looks like a ban from robot. Just can't figure out his criteria. I hope the increase in organic traffic can't be criteria.
 
Hmm I see many people having the same problem and I'm thinking of switching to a new account just to see if I'll start getting more traffic. My 5-year old account seems to suck when it comes to giving new pins distribution and impressions. I thought that was just how pinterest was nowadays, but after seeing how people are getting tens of thousands of clicks on new accounts, I'm thinking there is an advantage to a new account.

Is this just Pinterest trying to force people to start using paid ads by limiting reach? Or is it an algorhitm change designed to frustrate spammers?

Has anyone managed to 'push through' this frustrating drop in reach?

Because, whatever the reasoning behind this 'shadowbanning' is, it makes sense for it to be cyclical and not a one-time thing. So, if you keep pinning consistently, your traffic should come back? Who knows. I myself don't know if I have it in me to keep creating and creating pins without seeing results.

Another possibility is that when you're newly registered, Pinterest tries to excite & addict you to the platform by distributing your pins more. It also doesn't know which people exactly will like your pin, so it gives you a very wide platform distribution to gauge that. But once the algo has determined what your ideal 'viewer' is, it keeps showing your pins only to those types of visitors. And if your pins are too similar and getting shown to the same people over and over again, it makes sense for your metrics to drop. In this case, churning and burning accounts may be the only solution.

So, the question is, is it necessary to keep pinning on fresh, new accounts, to get the most traffic, or should we just keep pinning consistently no matter what? @Jdeere?

I can say, that I have relatively old accounts that feel themselves good. And I have new ones, that are stuck in traffic. All ones get fresh pins regularly.
However, according to overall stats, I would say that it makes sense to register and give a try to the new accounts from time to time.

A new account is always a good option, as for me.
Even more, better several new accounts.
You may check, do new pins bring some traffic or not.
If they are not distributed by Pinterest there is no sense to continue pinning. It's better to stay with the traffic from repins and start a new account.
 
Maybe just stay the course for a little longer. Mine had a massive drop during the time frame above, I touched nothing, and the last few has rebounded to a lot higher than it was before to over 50,000 impressions day. FYI I am 100% automation with auto blog to Pinterest boards.
 
Same problem. My analytics wasn't updating as well. Last update around 17th May. Statics under the pins also disappeared.

Question about a new account:

So you mean removing the verified url from "banned" account and setting up a new one with same url?

And if so, should the old one be deleted or how would that effect the pinned pins?

You can't remove website from the banned account, you have no access to that account.
I meant starting new account with a new website actually. Old website will continue to get traffic from repins. However, you may claim old website on the new account as well. Here is instruction how
