Setting up proxies using phone as hotspot

When I have my laptop connected to a Hotspot (android phone 5g) does the proxy need to changed on the phone or the laptop or both?

I tried setting up a mobile proxy last week using hydraproxy but it wouldn't connect to the internet after setting up the proxy on the laptop....was going to try a residential proxy on a free wifi because I thought maybe the Hotspot was doing somthing weird but the more I read I think I might be setting it up wrong....

So do I need to setup proxy on my androids Hotspot then connect the laptop? Or am I not setting this up right at all?

Proxy need to be changed on your phone. Just use airplane mode for like 10 sec to change ip.
 
There's a guide somewhere here on how to do this. I don't remember the exact thread but if you search around you'll find it.

It was too complicated for me so I just used a wired connection to get it done. PDAnet + marcrodroid to automate IP change (via AP mode) worked well for me.

But I am using the proxy for location changes...can I do that with what you mentioned
 
The main reason for the proxies is to seem like I am in a certain location....i was told it's better to do it on a laptop...can you set a proxy from a certain geolocation on your phone? Also as I understand it residential proxy is better than mobile proxies when it come to location is that right?

Also is it even possible to setup proxies on a public wifi like McDonald's or a library
 
It can be done but with a add on usually used on firefox portable browser .

You want to spoof location .
 
Use an anti-detect browser and configure the proxies there.

I would think PDAnet would use the proxied IP, but I'm not entirely sure. I never used it for something like this, so I can't say for certain.

I'd give it a shot though.
