hey guys, im starting a new site. i'd like to implement only the white hat seo techniques. i understand that these change over time. is there any guide that i can use which covers the latest seo techniques so that i can follow them and give my site the best possible chance of good ranking without any worrying about black hat seo?

First of all, it is mandatory to have good theme for your website you have, the next thing is meta tags, meta description, social media plugins.
The next part is content management, You should write a great and high quality home page regarding your website theme for your site viewers. and you should add a single content every week in your blog.
After adding 20-30 posts, you can start work on building high quality and natural links for your site, But, never thing about building bulky links rather then quality links, it is OK if your site have 10 links but they must be quality one only. Don't give any ******** paid links to any other site in your website..
Just keep these process! You will see a good traffic and results in few months.
