Setting up 500+ blogs?

Hello,

I'm very unfamiliar with wordpress and I'm currently looking into the best way to manage 250+ blog instances simultaneously. Is there any software/method that is feasible enough of managing this? I'm sure there but I'm just very unfamiliar with the scene. Can someone give me some input on this?
