I am installing a filezilla ftp server

If I tried to connect
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server
Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Connecting to xx.xx.xx.xx:21...

Notice that it doesn't even ask for password

However I can ftp from the same server.

So if I remote to my server and then ftp to it, it'll work.

So what's going on? I've been installing filezilla on many servers and it's working fine.

Yeah, filezilla was giving me problems yesterday. Wouldnt connect, then when it did, it wasnt showing any files.

Smart FTP is a good alternative, installed it and didnt have any more problems.

has your servers FTP settings changed? try toggling your PASV mode in your ftp software, also check your firewall settings on your server...

yeah I was getting the same problems for ages I couldn't figure it out and like the op said it wasn't asking for my password, I gave up in the end and started using wiseftp. so much better.

But again, I succesfully install filezilla server on other server without problem. Why? What is wrong with 2008?
