hi, do i have to keep my site on british hosting if i want to rank better and get more visits from uk? is there any correlation between server location and visits from the region that i care of?

i dont think so..most of the people did not think about..

I don't think it really makes a big difference. I have several .co.uk sites all on the first page of G but are hosted in the States. I am in the process of building some new sites some of which will be hosted in the states and some in the UK. As they are in the same niche and are all .org it will be interesting to see the results.

Well,I really think the server location simply does not matter.

I have a website hosted in the US and It ranks on the first page for 8 different countries.

Server location does not matter in that case but it will provide better load/speed if you have a server in your targeted location

dats what i thought but this article really confused me

Server location doesn't matter (much).
Speed is important for SEO (at least Google), but that doesn't mean a few ms of difference would be much.
However, having a faster speed of loading is proven to be increasing converting rate. Thus, if you focus on that then server location should be put in account. For example, West Coast of US usually loads faster in Asian countries while East Coast usually loads faster for European countries.

"My visitors come mostly from Europe and I changed my web host and server
from US to England and I have already seen the positive results in first two
months."

is it possible?? i was asked- why we got so small number of visits from north america comparing to europe and i replied like rest of you but this article is givin me headache

Yes it does. If you visitor majority from U.K. It doesn't really make sense to put your server on Singapore or India. Put it where your majority visitor comes from and your site will be loaded faster.

It is one of the hundred SEO factors to rank a website.

So yeah technically it matters. That said, it is not a critical factors so if you have a better deal at another place than UK go ahead.
