I have a site thats been holding strong at the top 3 position for 3 keywords for about 6 weeks now. Then today all of a sudden 2 key words drop to the second page and the 3rd is no where to be found.

What would be the quickest way to get back on top? I did get lazy and haven't wrote any new articles for it since I launched the site, so I know I need to do that, but what other things should I do?

I dont think links are my problem, I have a little over 1000 backlinks for profiles, blog comments, article directories, and bookmarks. The top 10 sites for my keyword have a COMBINED total of 310 links for all 10 sites.

I think in your situation the 302 will work, I did similar for a site with 1k plus backlinks dropping in the serp and jumped to #1, killed it for two days then dropped to #5, been sticking around 6 or 7 now.

Awesome just so you know after the removal I didn't see effect for 24 hrs so if you see nothing change it back and just wait a day or two

Well its only been 18 hours since I did that redirect thing, but now I noticed my 3 keywords are NO where to be found in goggle. I don't think doing this caused the drop but its weird to be top 3 one day, then no where to be found the next.

I think this problem is much bigger and a redirect isn't going to fix it. Anyways ill keep it up for another 24 hours or so and see what happens.

EDIT: well that redirect has been up for 24 hours, I just now took it down and put it back to the original file. Site is still no where to be found.

What do you mean by keep blasting more links? I havnt blasted any links to begin with. It was holding stong with the links that it did have, then it just droped off the face of google.

    How old is the site?

There's not much you can really do apart from more of the same, and waiting!

Hanging around the forum waiting for a magic answer won't do anything, so just write some fresh content, maintain your link building, and wait. G will decide when to put it back up.

Literally three days ago, one of my sites was page 1 for five of my keywords. Two days ago they all drop down to pages 14, 15 and above. Yeah, it sucks, but it will come back eventually. The site is less than a month old, so I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing, and wait for it to come back up.

Hopefully you haven't laid all your eggs in one basket and are solely relying on this site, in which case you should have other sites you can work on in the meantime.

Sh!t happens man, its all part of the game.

After looking around a little more I found something interesting. In googles webmaster tools theres a section on the right called LABS then SITE PERFORMANCE. It says the following

"On average, pages in your site take 4.2 seconds to load (updated on Dec 9, 2010). This is slower than 67% of sites. These estimates are of low accuracy (fewer than 100 data points). "

On Dec 12 is when I noticed my traffic went to almost nothing and my SERP were no where to be found. Before when I was in the number 1 spot it looks like my load time was 2 sconds, so it has almost doubled in time.

Below that it offers some suggesition on how to fix it. enable gzip compression, combine external javascript, combine external CSS. Then it lists whats wrong, I have a couple plugins and the WP theme im using showing up as to whats slowing it down.

Could this longer load time cause my page to drop like it has? Has anyone looked at this date before and fixed it?
