SERP rankings going down slowly??

So I have a site, I haven't built many links to it, but a decent amount of content over the course of about 2 months. Just mostly blog commenting, and social bookmarks. A few links from logo submissions, etc. Its not a very competitive niche, and after about a month I had most of my keywords ranking in the top 100, with about 40 pages indexed. I noticed that some of my pages were over optimized and I went back using PHPbuilts guide as a reference.

Probably just a coincidence, but after I corrected all of the pages, my rankings have since plummeted. I once had about 30 keywords in the top 60, but now I only have about 5, as my rankings have slowly went down each day until now.

I've since prepared 10 web 2.0 sites as I was about to point them to my money site, but I'm just kind of perplexed as to where to go from here. All of my pages are indexed, but I'm unsure as to what has caused the rankings slide. What course of action should I take? :confused::confused: Thanks

Really? You can really kill your site with 50 low quality backlinks?
 
Why mess with something that is working? Greed will get the best of you in terms of SEO. To have something be working is 90% of seo. As I see it you have many options but two that stick out.

1. Google is bouncing keywords and you may bounce back higher during this game but it may take a few months.

2. Change everything back.

2.5 Check an d make sure 100% that the real reason for loss of rank is truly that you reopmtimized and not that you stepped on someone elses turf and got hit with neg seo. Also check and see if any new backlinks got indexed around that time because some may be hurting.

ahrefs is showing 61 backlinks, nothing out of the ordinary from what I can see. I corrected the pages because I am not satisfied with a ranking of 50, and thought that I may have had an over optimization penalty, so I dropped keyword density below 2%
 
People claim % needs to be perfected but it is not a huge factor as long as it makes sense. I have a few 10-12% density pages that are ranked highly just because they make sense. Have you checked your bounce rate? Google will judge newer sites on how well you captivate your audience. (among 1000's of other factors) Change your site back or wait it out bud. Whatever you do DO NOT GIVE UP
 
The drop might be due to your onpage changes or as you have so few backlinks some of those might loose their power. In any case I would build much more backlinks or you never hit top 10.

Bounce rate is 60%

My content is really good though. 1000 words, lots of nice pictures and very relevant.
 
I honestly don't think that ranking matters when it's that far away from the top. You could be #60 one day, then #140, then #52, etc.
 
That is what exactly happens to my site too. So what is the main reason it jumps around, what have I done that makes this happen? Please help guys... Thanks in advance

50 low quality backlinks will not kill any website. just use a mix of both high quality and low quality links. because we don't know what is next coming from google in a month's time
 
Thanks for the information everyone. Kind of confusing, but I guess it is to be expected because of how vague I've been. Since this was bumped, I'll give an update.

I went ahead and pointed 2 of my web 2.0's to my site, and plan on pointing the others over the next few days. I've also got GSA SER 4 tiers deep blasting away. First time using these tools so we'll see how it goes. No updates in the SERPS as of yet.

Even though I've spent the better part of two months filling the site with content, I'm not hanging my hat on it and have started building a couple of other sites. Lets see how this plays out.
 
Morning.

While I agree with people in certain threads saying that content and site structure will get you to the top of the SERPs, I feel that it will only do so for the nichest of terms. For anything with more traffic / competition you will certainly need more links, as others are mentioning here. Good to see that you're doing some web2's which I personally feel will help if promoted themselves and enough are made, I'm wondering if you're pointing the GSA blasts to your money site?
