Well, i started a new site about 2 weeks ago, and im trying to dominate the keyword related to my site, the only problem that im having is that I appear in the serps for other results but not for the keyword in targeting.
is it because the keyword im targeting has more serps than the other keywords i appear? is this normal? should i just give some time?
for example if they keyword i was targeting for was "playstation", my site is appearing for "my playstation" and "myplaystation" but not for "playstation"
the anchor text of my backlinks are also made with the keyword im trying to dominate.
why is this happening? can someone help me out?

Google Dance, just keep adding content and building backlinks, everything will be normal in a few days...

I hate google dance, It's dancing right now. every few hours I get a heart attack, for better or worse.

I love it when my site moves up in the 1st page of SERP-s but hate it when it completely disappears from SERP-s:o

Happens all the time. That is because there are a lot of sites targeting playstation but very few targeting my playstation. You most likely have that phrase on your site a few times and since hardly anybody is targeting it you get a good rank. The other side of that is most likely it is a phrase with very few searches. If you have a site that has been around awhile and has cpanel take a look at your stats and you will see a bunch of odd phrases that people type in to find your site. Sometimes they have absolutely nothing to do with your site at all. Some of the searches you see can be very strange.

On another note do not get too used to your rankings for any term after only 2 weeks. New sites tend to get an artificial boost at first that may well go away shortly. I usually do not even check my rankings for the first 2 or months on a new site because anything you see then is just smoke and may or may not stick.

PM me the domain name and keyword. I'll be able to help (No, I won't be charging you money, LOL!)

I think you are using duplicate content so,that may be a reason for not ranking for main keyword phrase.

one has more competition than the other one... its that simpe

Oh I see
I think I'll just wait, and no, luckily i'm not using duplicate content
i think i will just making backlinks and original content, i will give it two months :)

Google dance don't exist anymore, google caffeine is up and running now

how about google mayday ?

anyway about google dance i had experience it in the past but now seem there is no google dance anymore and i'm quite agree with you because 1 of my site which is blasted using 10k backlinks are going to page 1 for competitive keywords :D

Look through your site and see how many times you mention the word "my" and is it next to Playstation or whatever your keyword is? If so, you could try rewriting the sentences to vary a bit if you do not wish to rank for it.
