SERP drop after 1 PBN link

Hi folks,

I have a site that's was ranking #3 for its intended main keyword. It was pretty stable for the last 3 weeks, with just 1 PBN link and 1 random blog comment link. I added a new PBN link 2 days ago, and within 24 hours the ranking has dropped to 6 or 7. I created the PBN site, which looks legit etc. and put the link straight away. Got the PBN site indexed into big G and then bam, hit.

Is this a usual procedure of the big G, or something more sinister? The PBN domain was never used for spam and it is very relevant to the niche.

I kinda want to remove the link to see if it improves my ranking, as I'm losing sales, but at the same time perhaps it's a temporary glitch.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Don't worry, Google just found your link and will calculate your new position.. it may take up to 2 weeks for everything to stay stable. I'd suggest building more nice and powerful links.
 
greedy boy . u want to jump to #1 :) . add some real and good social links. u will back. Remember good social likes, shares, tweets. not spammy one's.

It is normal procedure, 2-4 weeks to see results. You must be aware your position might be even lower, no suprise....
 
2 days is not enough to affect your rankings. Keep calm and wait for about 1-2 weeks. If this PBN is built with a high quality domain, you will see the improvement of your rankings.

I understand its a super short space of time. Just I noticed this drop and thought what's going on... I used to do IM back in 2011 when it was easier to rank. Fairly new to self made PBNs etc. I'll give it time, thank you.

Thanks for your reply, I expect it to go lower... let's see. Interestingly the entire first page has had a bit of a reshuffle!

Google reshuffle any nicche people SEO for almost everyday. Thats why you have to pick good money maker, one that will bring money from first page. Whatever you do you cant get top rankings all the time...
 
Hi all,

I have moved from 3 to 7 back up to 4 and crashed to 14. It has been 8 days since doing the link; any suggestions? Is the link hurting me, or is Google still deciding? Perhaps they are testing if I remove the link to see if it's my website?
 
When did you build out the PBN and how long after did you drop the link?

The first one I built I built it over a couple of months then dropped the link. This one I only built and dropped over a few days... perhaps this is the cause...? If so how can I rectify that... I understand it was potentially stupid.
 
Has it ever crossed your mind that the guy on #7 just did something better than you and actually climbed up 1 position thus taking you down ? I mean this isn't a single player game and not all your actions will have imediate reactions :)

The next guy directly competing with me is on page 4, the keyword is very untapped and the first 2 pages are just in the same niche, not that exact keyword at all. I'm sure it's due to the link, as literally 24hrs later I dropped.
 
That is the waiting game, if you don't have patience then you can never rank a site.

then remove the link if you are so sure .....
 
I think its just a google dance. Dont nothing and wait for 2 weeks, you will regain your rankings.
