I've checked my rankings with many free tools like serplab, seotools, serps, seocentro, etc. and generally get the same results across the board, but when searching using proxies or "i search from" the results are completely different. I know results are different depending on location but why are all the serp checkers the same? Are they all using the same location when every other big city I've tried was different?

I have the same issue, I think it is difficult to have accurate position even with paid tools. For instance semrush shows different result than ahref for my keyword.

I am not sure about other serp checkers, but Serplab has been working great for me.

Serplab has an option where you can select the desired search engine - Google.com or Google.ca - You can use local search engine and compare your results with their outcome.

I signed up to a subscription of SerpBook - which is not finding keywords that I know are ranking. Serplab, however, is getting them spot on. I also get more searches for free on Serplab than I do for my paid subscription on SerpBook. Needless to say, I won't be renewing my subscription. And if they don't start showing me the correct positions soon I will also be looking for a refund.

I concur with serplab.co.uk/ I have had much more accurate reporting from them and I have both of the services presently. About to drop serpbooks.

I'm a huge advocate for Serplab. I've been using the service exclusively now and have had great results. I did have an issue with search volume (paid bot), but that seems to be fixed in the latest update.

Every tracker shows different search volume for keyword

No tracker is 100% accurate because SERPs aren't always the same, too. Especially for terms Google qualifies as local searches there is often a huge difference depending on the location (IP) used.

It's likely because that's where your site was ranked the last time they were all updated. I find most rank checkers take a good bit of time before updating their info. It's best just to check manually.

I have used both Serplab and serpbook, I must say Serplab has an upper hand in showing accurate results.
