serious decrease in engagement

Long time lurker, finally decided it was time to sign up because I am running to my first issue with my instagram account.

In a little over a month I managed to grow a female/relationships account from 0 to 4.6k followers with 300-350 likes per post at its peak using imacros following about 300-400 people per day and unfollowing the next day. I am posting about 2-3 times a day.

Over the past 5 days or so I have noticed my engagement take a serious hit, going from 300ish likes per post to 150-200 likes with no causation. My content hasnt changed at all.

Is there something I need to change to get my engagement to go back up? Did something change with the instagram algorithms?

Instagram new algorithm is killing all niche accounts. They want business owners to buy ads from IG. The only ones would survive would be those ppl who are extremely beautiful/hot/handsome and those ppl who are truly inspired or those who are extremely unique and the followers really like them etc. Basically, the new algorithm only makes those extremes to hit explore (in a large scale type of explore). If the posts are not good enough, the algorithm punishes them to let them even show less to the followers.

one thing I forgot to mention, I havent monetized this account at all yet. I am just simply working on growing it. Does instagram still perceive me as a niche account?

IG does not decide you are a niche or not. Your acc decides itself because niche accs engagement would not be that high compared to those extremes.
