Almost all of my sites were on page 1 for their keywords..

I used to make link wheels, write articles and submit em.. create backlinks.. 50 per day..

I was on page 1 for 3 months.. then slowly i started dropping.. dropped to numeber 12 then 19 now 34.. and no matter what i do it does not rise..

did the methods change ?

did i miss the boat?

try reposting content on existing link wheels this may help

Well if your competitors is increasing their backlinks, or even doing the same as you then may be the competition is tougher? Did google lose some of your backlinks? Also it is the beginning of the month so may be it could be the google dance affecting your rankings...

or maybe it is googles new caffeine dropping you in rank. I owuld just build more backlinks or something maybe run a xrumer blast and you will be right back where you was

Welcome to the never ending battle that is SEO. Perhaps you can subscribe to one of the top seo industry websites/blog and see what is the latest with the big G. As you know Google is always changing things to keep people like you honest:), so the minimum you have to do is keep abreast with her changes/shakeups.

The one thing I have noticed with SEO and Google and that things are always changing. It's not uncommon to see a site who's owners have worked for months to get a top 10 ranking disappear from the SERPS completely.

Improvise, adapt and overcome my friend.

I think too many guys are using your Footprints to Rank for spammy sites and hence, Google punished your website severely.

I seriously suggest you to avoid Link Wheels next time as its quite saturated and Google is well aware of such SEO'ing.

Try some new tactics like social bookmarking, blog network distribution...etc

Also, are you link wheels closed or open link wheels?

agreed, linkwheels can cause a lot of harm

Every so often re-ping your articles and sites.

Make sure your content and websites really work together.

Masque all of your affiliate links. And not just with tiny url.

Do not connect all of your link wheels to your main site. Really mix them up. Not every site of your link wheel has to be an funnel that goes directly to your money site.

Find put what your competitors are doing... what are they back linking to, how are they seo-ing their sites and content to get search engine attention/love.

In short, if you are gaming the system, Google is probably on to something you are doing, so go over all your methods and cover your tracks better.

I've used dup content for several of my clients sites and they are moving up and ranking very well. But I keep it pretty much white hat for them.

Slow and steady

i have open link wheels and closed link wheels.. which are better looked at by G?

The answer is always what looks more "natural" to Google. Therefore, I would generally say open link wheels look the best to the big G.

And in response to your original post, you may try creating a new linkwheel with a "related" keyword as your anchor text. I've recently had better results with my old link wheels that followed this whereas some of my newer ones seemed to drop off in SERPs quite a bit.

Also, have you tried building more backlinks to your original spokes or building linkwheels around your old spokes?

Also, from my past experience random link wheels are better than closed link wheels

I know exactly how you feel. Last month I was prepared to jump off a bridge. Suddenly my high-ranking sites dropped their position despite the fact that I had a very eclectic :cool2: portfolio of SEO, you know doing a variety of things. However, just as my sites disappeared they reappeared...it is very frustrating but do not give up.

Google is unpredictable that's why. Just make high PR do follow backlinks consistently.
