SEO

The first step to start learning SEO is to gain a basic understanding of what SEO is and how it works.

Start with some youtube tutorials, after you get involved in this sphere, you will figure out what your next step should be

You can get a basic understanding of SEO by watching some YouTube videos. Also, you can use Google to learn things or look for some affordable SEO courses.

To understand how Google works, learn the basics from a few blogs or here and then try it yourself. I didn't truly learn SEO until I came up with my own ideas and then tested them. Whatever worked I added to my strategy until I reached a point where It's pretty much bulletproof.

Agree with the people saying understand how google works.
  • Digest https://developers.google.com/search/docs/essentials and think about it from Google's point of view.
  • Understand that these are the guidelines of one of the search engines and their interests don't always align with yours - but know that you're not going to get far in SEO by falling foul of them.
  • Follow authorised representatives of Google, bing, whoever on Twitter and read between the lines. Figure out why they're saying what they're saying.
  • Yes, read blogs and watch youtube but remember that most of those folk are full of shit, just regurgitating the same old stuff, selling courses or ebooks or making money from your attention. Remember that their interests don't always align with yours.
  • Build sites, try stuff out. Fuck around and see what happens on sites that don't matter much.
  • Don't put all your eggs in one basket - keep things separate.

im surprised by how many members actually say go to YouTube ,obviously have never learnt diddly swat from bhw

The first step to start learning SEO is to gain a basic understanding of what it is and how it works. Start by reading articles and tutorials about SEO, understanding the basics of search engines, analyzing your website, learning about keywords, and understanding on-page optimization.

I see many people have shared useful resources in this thread. So I'll skip that and tell you one of the most important things to keep in mind when beginning your SEO journey.

It is called 'Search Intent'. It means that you target keywords only where you think you can best fulfill the goal of the user.

For example, a keyword like 'xyz login' may show very low difficulty in SEO tools, and you may be tempted to create an article and rank for that keyword. But since the user is only searching for the xyz's official website to login, you don't stand a chance.

The first step to start learning SEO is to build a solid foundation of knowledge and understanding. Here are some recommended steps to get started:

  1. Research and Familiarize Yourself: Start by researching and understanding the basic concepts, terminology, and principles of SEO. Familiarize yourself with search engines, how they work, and the factors that influence rankings.
  2. Read Reliable Resources: Dive into reputable online resources, blogs, and guides that provide comprehensive information about SEO. Websites like Moz, Search Engine Journal, and Backlinko offer valuable insights and educational content for beginners.
  3. Take Online Courses: Consider enrolling in online courses specifically designed for SEO beginners. Platforms like Coursera, Udemy, and LinkedIn Learning offer a range of SEO courses taught by industry experts.
  4. Follow SEO Experts: Follow influential SEO experts and professionals on social media platforms, such as Twitter or LinkedIn. Engage with their content, read their articles, and learn from their experiences and insights.
  5. Practice on Your Own Website: Apply the knowledge you've gained by implementing SEO techniques on your own website. Optimize your site structure, conduct keyword research, create valuable content, and monitor your site's performance using tools like Google Analytics and Google Search Console.
  6. Stay Updated: SEO is a dynamic field, with algorithms and best practices evolving constantly. Stay up to date with the latest trends, algorithm updates, and industry news through blogs, newsletters, podcasts, and industry events.
  7. Experiment and Analyze: SEO is a combination of theory and practice. Experiment with different strategies, techniques, and tools to see what works best for your website. Analyze the results, track your progress, and make data-driven decisions to optimize your SEO efforts.
Remember, SEO is a continuous learning process, and it's important to remain adaptable and open to new ideas and strategies. As you gain more experience, consider seeking advanced training or certifications to further enhance your SEO knowledge and skills.
