hmm... I would say understanding how google works.

Not easy to do especially since google themselves don't always know what the hell they want, but if you manage to get the big picture and if you have time and money you'll be able to make google your bitch and rank whatever you want

  • Step 4: Put keywords in your meta description.
  • Step 5: Put keywords in your H1 text.
  • Step 6: Use keywords in the page's content.

  • Step 8: Monitor your rank.
 
Try to understand about what is SEO and how it works
Learn about keyword research and metrics
Understand on-page and off-page optimization
Look old threads and youtube videos for references
Take practise
 
Get a job with an agency.

Low pay, but you will actually learn the job.

YT tutorials are vague and pretty much useless if you want to do SEO at an advanced level.

For general awareness, yes, YT is good!

This is right, rather than money, More time needs to get an understanding of Google's functioning and SEO.

You can get a basic understanding of SEO by watching some YouTube videos. Also, you can use Google to learn things or look for some affordable SEO courses.
