I am building a product, and I currently have the only page on the site a simple newsletter email signup form. I want to get a lot of users to sign up for my newsletter, but I am not going to start a blog (at least right now). I am probably looking to get 15k-20k legitimate hits per month. I know this is a longshot, but I figure I can slowly work up to it, or at least improve my hits.

Basically, I just want to get started.

The most effective way to do this is probably SEO. But, obviously, not having a blog is going to be hard.

I would say I want to spend $50, if that.

So...

a) Are there any alternatives I should be considering besides SEO?
b) What can I do to get high rankings without a blog?

I think you're a litte misinformed.

Not sure what you mean here. Pretty much everything reloves around some type of SEO.

Same thing you'd do without a blog. There are probably a ton more sites making money that aren't blogs, compared to sites that are. Blogs are just a small part of making money online. Why do you feel blogs are so important? What do you feel is the biggest difference from making money with a blog compared to a nonblog site?

The site I am using is dead simple. Two sentences of text, and a bare minimum sign-up form.

I have been reading posts here, and it seems like everyone has a larger content base than I do.

I guess that's where I'm coming from.

Try blogger

Talk about product send links to your page

Lesson 1

SEO is a global term meaning - all ways to send people to your page.

Blogger is free, but you will need more than 50 dollars

like the other person said it doesn't matter if you have a blog or not.. it's about the content on your website. as far as SEO goes you aren't going to be able to rank for a keyword if you only have a few sentances on your page. if you really wanna rank in search engines.. you're going to have to write up an article talking about your product, service, whatever you're offering.. and have a link to signup to your newsletter on that page.. but it'd be your landing page you're optimizing for your keywords to then send through to your newsletter.

there are all kinds of other ways to get traffic.. seo is more long term and takes more time. you can look at social media sites.. (twitter, facebook are the most popular ones) make pages for your product, service, whatever and link to your page.. start adding followers and friends.

What if I just get tons of backlinks? Could that make up for not having content on my site?

Another question: I see all these posts on Fiverr for people giving visitors or tweeting links, etc. What are the best of these services? As is, what will send the most legitimate and targeted traffic to my site?

Hahahahahahahahahahah 50 dollars..

Really?

That is pennies.
Thanks, very helpful!

if you don't have content on your site you won't be able to rank for anything. you can't just post up backlinks.. other sites that are trying to rank for the same keyword will have actual content and the search engines will value their site over yours.

On Fiverr, some people offer services that promise to send 20,000 genuine visitors to your website or whatever. Are these services really worth it? I'm afraid of a very low conversion.

Those service are just bot traffic mostly, it does not convert and about the only use for it is increasing alexa rank (worthless) or making your stats look higher so you can sell for a better price.

Why are you so ANTI-content? just send some of your $ to get a few good articles or some other relevant writing done - it's worth it.

I am building a product, and I was just looking for a quick and easy way to get some early signups. I would much rather spend time building a good product than doing SEO right now.

I think what I am going to do is just try to get it up on some blogs right before release, something like that.

This question applies to me as well. I have a hard selling landing page/sales letter....Im trying an adwords account, my domain has my KW phrase in it, etc. This style of landing page just sin't very suited for blog posts or much content other than the description of the product, testimonials, sales language etc.

I was considering trying to use SB to create some backlinks...but the comment above about having little "real content" may hurt me regardless.

I had the idea of having another domain with a blog and basically use that platform to promote my landing page domain...not sure if this is the best route to go. So, i'd backlink the hell out of the blog, then have the blog as the tool to promote my landing page.

Overly convoluted?

I have seen sites with less content rank, so no worries there.

Why can't you add a few paragraphs below the opt in? it really helps

It is good idea to use newsletter email, but need more subscriber

Hey,

I am actually about to do very similar thing where I want to drive traffic to my squeeze page. Here is what I plan to do:
- I will add an blog that has a 2-3 RIDICULOUSLY good posts (1000+ words) in it. I am not planning to blog a lot, very infrequently (max once a week) but always very high quality. The blog would be in domain.com/blog (and squeeze at domain.com). Ideology here? Use those blog posts in to attract visitors from social media (see below).
- Have a twitter account (use tweetattacks to get followers). Do occational tweets. Follow the biggest influencers/competitors in the niche. Why? So I can stay tuned what they are up to. Also...
- Since I have identified the biggest influencers/competitors who have high traffic blogs I can use their comment fields to drive traffic to my squeeze. Leave GREAT comments/ask out-of-the-box questions (preferably quite quickly after the post is up), use your real name and put your squeeze as your website. Most likely huge instant traffic wont follow, but do this on 5 or so posts (on 10 high traffic blogs) and the readers of that blog as well as the author start noticing you and checking your website.
- If you get somehow on the radar of those influencers, you can ask if it is possible to guest post. Few great posts on high traffic blogs should really send a good amount of traffic to your website and also bring credibility.

Already being on the radar of the influencers, having some credibility, you will likely get more twitter followers too which you can further use to drive traffic to your squeeze. And on top of that, you have some nice blog comment backlinks.

I am also planning to use a leadmagnet under the very few blog posts that I am doing to gather emails (or to send them to my squeeze) as well as using paywithatweet-concept with a good quality freebie AFTER people have signed up to drive even more traffic to my squeeze.

This is my plan so far. At the moment I am creating content and hopefully next week I will be able to start driving traffic.

Nice post.. Thanks folks for sharing your views. This post is very informative and would surely be useful for SEO beginners.
