I was always involved in PPC campaigns . Mostly Adwords and Facebook since last 12 years.
Mostly doing affiliate marketing.
I have tried SEO too and got some results in the past.
As for PPC, its all about finding a winner campaign and scaling it.
Sometimes it takes just a few tries and sometimes it wastes a huge amount of money and time. And if you dont find any good converting campaign for long, you are broke.

I have always thought learning SEO tricks is going to waste my time and Google Changes algorithm and suddenly its a new game. But on the other hand, SEO is still there and doing wonders for plenty of my IM friends.

I have always wanted to be a part of long term projects. A stable income is necessary to live a better life. I am thinking of learning SEO from the start. giving it a few months, Purchasing all of those Blackhat tools and trying my skills in SEO.

What is your pick? What do you suggest?

I think you don't get a unique keywords and don't try tier backlinks and guest bloggings so if you go for PPC.

Try some diversity keywords surely you get ranked rather than

Try tier backlinks it is more useful.

It depends on your site and business.Because in both SEO and PPC you have to pay some money.
But in SEO, if you became an expert you can earn from it, but, it is not possible in case of PPC.

Google can change the algorithms but SEO remains till the end. Learning SEO will able to help you in all the time. rather than PPC.
SEO traffic is free which means organic traffic where as PPC traffic is generated from paid.
So i always prefer SEO.

Tier backlinks and one or two linkwheels per site should help your SEO a lot also do proper kw research check the competition and so on. SEO all the way. PPC makes you spend money before you got it.

A successful IM strategy always should compose of 2 things:

1) Short term strategy (PPC+Social+Media buy)
2) Long term strategy (SEO+Community growth+Email Marketing)

I'm not saying that you won't have success choosing only one of the 2 things but if you want to scale up and get the most out of it with less costs on the long run then you should have both.

Hope this answers your question.

Man, you have 12 years experience on PPC. imho just stick to PPC.

PPC all the way, know a few affiliates that make xx,xxx per day with PPC, never knew anyone can make that figure with SEO though.

a lot of seo techinques stay the same but just reuqire a few twists, and it's the same as ppc in the sense that you meed to try a lot ofr things before you find the right way / method.

you should give it a go, it will help you with your IM career wither way.

Both are used to earn money online. But ppc is the simple way to visit a web through ads posted in another website, I think.

I'm the opposite of you - long time seo, often thought about learning ppc. Whenever I started investing serious time and effort into it, I came away feeling that I would've been better off sticking with and scaling my seo projects. You didn't directly say it, but you seem to imply that seo is more stable and long term than ppc, and I do not agree. I've seen many ppc guys build very profitable, stable, long term businesses. I've seen many seo guys lose half of their revenues overnight in a big algorithm update.

I don't think there's a right pick between seo/ppc. My suggestion is to stick with what you know, and maybe look for a partner who's good at seo. That's what I ended up doing, just in reverse :)

Normally with SEO it takes a bit longer for rankings to kick in, but always pays off if you crack it right.

Only learn PPC once you have enough money, by all means look into it after you're built up / have enough money.

Every quality link using SEO is permanent, whilst boosts your site adding others in the long run.

If I had money I would choose and buy PPC ads.

If I do not have money I will pick SEO.

Do not think about it too hard, soon ACTION

It is a simple thing

I always start with PPC, identify if there are keywords WORTH wasting my time with in SEO, and then move into SEO. But the problem is 99.99% of users have NO idea how to really use Adwords well enough to do this. So if you are a PPC expert I suggest going PPC first. Otherwise the rest of you should probably do the OPPOSITE and do SEO until you found a golden niche and then line your profits with a small PPC campaign.

Both ppc and seo are used to make money. You can select based on your needs.IMO better to go with ppc since you are 12 years expert in ppc.
