i've been thinking about starting a blog in my native language, however i find SEO tools very hard to use, every keyword i tried had almost 0 volume but how is this possible? i'm pretty sure those keywords have some relevance although they are not super popular.

example: this is the result for "Whoop" filtered in italian on MOZ Pro, the volume is REALLY that low ?

how can I find relevant keywords in my niche and how do i know if my niche has really some people interested or not? maybe i'm just hallucinating and i would prefer not waste my time.

thanks!

Yes most of the SEO tools are focused on USA, UK and Canada traffic. You will find very low keywords or SV for other language and country.

However some tools offer some credit purchasing options to get more data.

You can try that.

SEO tools often show “0 volume” for non-English keywords, but that doesn’t mean nobody searches for them. It just means the volume is too low for their database to report.

Check Google Trends (Italy + your keyword).
Use Google autocomplete / related searches for ideas.
Once you publish, Search Console will show you the real queries.

In smaller markets, even “0 volume” keywords can bring traffic if they’re relevant. Don’t ignore them.

This thread can serve as a good idea for a new tool serving different language keywords. There can be good demand of such a tool.

SEO tools like Moz, Ahrefs, and SEMrush are often more optimized for English keywords because most of their data is pulled from English-speaking markets. For non-English languages, especially niche or smaller ones, keyword volume can appear low or even zero but that doesn’t always reflect actual search behavior.

Instead, try these:

see real search interest over time.
type your keyword and see what autofills that’s what people are really searching.Search Console (once you launch): gives real keyword data your blog ranks for.
some countries have specific keyword tools (like Ubersuggest supports more languages now).

Don't use Moz for keyword research other than English. Try getting data from Ahrefs or Semrush.. Also one other way is to analyze few of your direct competitors in Ahrefs or semrush. Pull their keywords and start working on them.. You have to do manually get all the keywords for already ranked posts via seo tools.. This way you can build keywords list in Italian language.

Low volume in SEO tools doesn’t always mean no interest—it can reflect limited data for your language or niche. Try checking Google Trends, forums, social media, and competitor sites to gauge real interest. Focus on long-tail keywords and questions people actually search. Start small and test to see if your content attracts readers.

The majority of SEO tools target markets like the US, UK, and Canada, which means keywords and search volumes for other countries or languages are often scarce or underrepresented.

Most SEO tools underreport non-English keywords, especially in smaller markets. I usually use Ahrefs to reverse-engineer my language competitors, then manually create keyword lists from their top pages. Also, Google Trends + autocomplete gives a better clue than volume statistics. Don't blindly trust "0 volume" - it's often just missing data.

Even with English keywords they are not so accurate, for not english keywords they are very innacurate

Those services often struggle with non-English or niche keywords. Their reported volumes can be very misleading for languages like Italian.

Yeah, SEO tools often underreport volumes for non-English keywords. Doesn’t mean there’s no traffic—just that their data sources are weak for smaller languages. Trust SERP checks, Google Trends, and Search Console instead of only tool numbers.
