SEO strategy for microniche sites

I read the thread and seems that some people has LOTS of microniche sites. They work on long tail keywords with not much competition.
I suppose you don't spend a lot of time on offsite SEO.

So what is the best (or what is your) SEO strategy for those quick sites?

Like getting couple articles and couple web 2.0 links? Maybe adding some blog comments or profiles in the mix and then "set and forget" about the site and create another one?

PS: It would be nice that you post what micro niche is for you. Like how many competing websites in quotes etc.

i have a few micro niche sites but i'm too lazy for linkbulding and commenting. i just write 2 articles on each topic, one posted on the site and the other one goes to the 6 article directory sites i've chosen to work best for me.

And how is that working out for you? Which google positions do you own?

And what is your success with google rankings? Did you hit first page for your keywords? How much search traffic are you getting so far?
 
well, i may not be on the #1 list but definitely i'm on the first page for the keywords that i'm working on. also, these microsites are subdomains, so i think as long as the site contains original and useful content, anyone could rank.
 
I own like 10-15 different micro niche sites. The success behind them is:

A) Exact Keyword in Domain (.org)
B) Domain Age (+4 years)
C) Almost no competition (350k competitors)
D) 4k searches per month (exact)

This is basically the formula I'm doing and I rank TOP 10 for several of these

Nice. But what do you consider microniche. For example poster bellow you said he considers micro niche keywords with 350.000 competing results. In quotes of course.

So your formula of SEO strategy for micro niche sites does not include any link building? :confused: :)
 
i target adsense and amazon, and i use google keyword tool heavily to find and research my niche. i then filter for the low and medium competition keywords and obviously those keywords which have at least $0.80 CPC.

once i have those, i'll then create a project in traffic travis, and monitor the performance of these keywords for 2 weeks. using this excellent software, i'll be able to determine which of those keywords to work on and to ditch.

as mentioned, my micro niche sites are targeted for adsense, so it's important for me to determine if there are advertisers willing to pay for my target keys

Of course it does. But I have other authority sites (PR 4 - PR 5) on different IP's so just a backlink from all of them I get easily ranked :)

Cool, but whats your competition? Like search for your keyword phrase in google and see how many results it displays.

For example if you search for "seo strategy" it returns 219.000 rsults. (Using quotes of course)
 
if that is the case, then you need to drill down a bit deeper and target those long tail keywords. also, there's an excellent 'related searches' you get from google's search engine. you can always use it to extend your research.

there are gazillion of reasons why a site would rank for a specific keyword - domain name is just one of them. having said that, if you do the things they've failed to optimize, you will rank.

I can not make it more clear, its simple question and simple answer.
 
i've answered you twice, i guess - low and medium competition. you felt that way because you're expecting me to give you a figure. but yes, you're right, 20k is good, market samurai suggests 30k.

Yes. With micro niche site you need less work and links than with something big. Basicly people who has 300 or 500 micro niche sites don't have chance (and there is no need) to build links to each site of the same level as if they should do having 1 huge site in high competitive and big niche.

Like if you target "viagra" you have one linking startegy and if you target "viagra pill tutorial" you have completely different strategy (like get some links and forget about it and maybe add few links once in a blue moon)

Ok. Now I can say that its impressive to rank first page only with 6 article directory links on that competition. :top:
 
Well, in my mind, the STRATEGY remains the same, just the workload is less. I would still go about the same things, just wouldnt have to do as much or spend as much time doing them.

Ok lets talk about workload and time building links. By the way strategy can be different as well.
For instance:
With big site your strategy is web 2.00 + blog comenting + bought links + profiles + edu links
With micro niche site your strategy can be for example only article submittion (just like one of the members already posted)
Just an example of different approach.

But basicly we can talk about strategy + work load. PERFECT example of answer was - submitting to 6 article directories. He covers strategy + workload. LETS KEEP ANSWERS THE SIMILAR WAY :)

For me bookmarking and RSS submissions is all it takes for a top 5 ranking. Its all in the research before implementing guys, you have to set a bar at have this gut feel that this micro niche will do you good. The time it invest to have that set up can be like 2-4 hours at a time, but once you hit the right spot expect to stick up to many years in that ranking, unless a dumb competitor comes in and challenge you, happened to some of my niches when one day someone came in, with a better site and everything.
