SEO Strategy for >5000 uv blog (pro only pls)

hello my dear BHW fellows,
i am here to ask the advice of those users who have got a blog with decent amount of visitors...say >5000 uv a day.

I would like to know:

1) What other link build strategy can I adopt?apart from linkwheels, backlink profiles, articles to directories and social bookmarking. I am missing blog comments but it looks spammy to me...what other strategy can I adopt?

2) IMPORTANT ISSUE. I am on a wordpress blog. Some competitors of mine, despite do not have a big quantity of external backlinks manage to get tons of ORGANIC traffic. Sure, he has got a couple of comments with backlinks on a couple of high PR blogs but that's all I can fetch.

I think that he manges to get tons of ORGANIC traffic because he has got a good ONPAGE SEO STRATEGY (in fact he has got the famous thesis theme).
I was looking for some well-.knows and good established SEO company (no kids, no private people i dont know what they know) but there are too many of them!

Do you have any good advice for me? PLS DO NOT BOMB MY MESSAGE BOX WITH TONS OF OFFERTS FROM SEO DOERS...only looking for SEO companies...

Try the following :

1) Directory submissions

5) Backlinks from Video sites

Best traffic source (in demand) would be yahoo answers, twitter, facebook and other sites that could catch other's interests.
