I'm currently seeking a rockstar SEO Sales guru for my SEO agency. Where can I find this type of talent? I'm trying the regular job boards and my university alumni, but to no avail. I need someone with prior experience selling SEO packages. Don't have the time to train someone from scratch.

Some help/guidance would be great. Also, some compensation structure would be useful. Obviously it would be a base salary + commission type of structure.

I'd take a look at call centers, or people who have experience working at them. Take a look at where they recruit and go there as well.

But be careful when looking for the elusive "rockstar" employee. Way too many people substitute a good business plan with saying "I'll just hire a rockstar who will take care of all of it for me".

Thanks for the input. My business plan is solid and I have all the processes and systems in place. I even tried pitching to a few potential clients, but I'm not a sales guy, I'm more like an extroverted geek :)

As for call centers. I'm looking more along the lines of a seasoned SEO sales guy. Someone who knows SEO quite a bit to pitch to a sophisticated client.

Much thanks on the feedback though

    Nope. I'm in the US.

The job is remote based though. It can be done from anywhere.

    sales?

if you actualy know what you are doing and have the balls to.....

    this should be your headline:

"I will rank your website's keywords in X months, OR
    you money back!!!"

many people here sell or think they sell "all-in-one" SEO but at the end they dont guarantee first page. for many reaons like: their backlinks sucks, they dont have the time to review on-page seo, they dont have the balls to, etc etc. My point is simple, you have there a good opportunity because 90% of people that sells SEO dont guarantee first page (at least for decent keywords).

    my 2 cent

    Guys,

This is a sales job. Does the location really matter? We are based out of Houston, Texas. Last I checked, sales can be done from anywhere in the world with a cell phone and a decent internet connection. Sounds to me like the experts on this forum are 60 year old baby boomers

Yes, it does. A LOT. You can expect a lot more response if you're based in a metro area, as opposed to being based in a small town. That's simply because you're a lot more likely to land good clients by employing an online + offline strategy, instead of only using online and competing with every Indian agency on the web.

The approach will also differ depending on whether you have clients already or just starting out.

Anyway, I can help, but I'm not cheap.

The reason I say location does not matter is cause I worked at a top SEO Agency based in Europe and all our clients were from the US, UK, Canada and Australia. Location does not really matter. We closed clients left, right and center from every corner of the world. Please private message me if you or anyone else on this forum thinks they have what it takes to be a kick ass SEO sales person.

I avoid meeting prospective clients in person because any client that demands you meet in person before signing a deal will likely be a high maintenance client that won't be high ROI for me.

It definitely works and can help people who need clients get them, but those clients are probably going to be much more hands on.

A good sales guy can sell SEO pretty easily. A good SEO guy who is also a good sales guy probably already has an agency.

I would imagine the kind of person you are looking for (good SEO skills and sales experience) would be working for themselves or a big agency and not need to be employed by you otherwise you would need to pay a very competitive to get someone good that is looking for a job.

Agreed, but I am willing to pay the right person for the job (maybe even equity)

And I would imagine that having both skills (sales and SEO) is a hard proposition.

Either way, please send me a private message if you think you have the skill set for the job.
