SEO Question - Posting links into source code of website.

Hi guys, I have a question. I found a guy that will (did) post my website link into the source code of other general websites, such as restaurants, travel related, law related, whatever. Is that good link building or is that something that's going to give me negative results.

All links are technically in the source code. I don't see any issues.

You must specify what exactly means to be in the "source code" in case is something rare.
 
The guy told me that he will post my website link into the source code of a website, and to check their source code to see my link. I have no idea how he's doing it, but he must have some access to these sites. However, these are random (decent) sites, so I think he's either hacking them, fooling me somehow or has had access to them as a webmaster or something. I'm just wondering if this is some black hat stuff that will backfire.
 
It needs to be showing on the page itself with a hyperlink, just adding it to source does nothing for SEO.
 
@blaxxxinated he's selling you hacked links, not the best way to acquire links is it? if you are aware that these are hijacked links then idk what to tell you. It's not a long term strategy by any means, and I understand most people on BHW are looking to make a quick buck, but that is the worst way to go about anything imo. Do it right.

Yes, that's why I was asking, I don't know much about SEO or links so I wanted to ask if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
 
It is a hacked links if you can't see it on the page with anchor, but only in source code.
You can get some serious problems later if owners of these sites will start investigating your site after they find been hacked.

links should be on-page (viewable) and in the source-code, or else its hacked links, and can be removed by original site owner, or may be even penalized by google. So avoid. Get normal looking decent backlinks.

He means his friend will hack those sites to insert links. :/

The fact that his friend is going to hack or place them in a legit way is not relevant at all. The real thing is how this links are going to be placed

As I say this is irrelevant. Not all links are really worthy. I've seen plenty of shit hacks of people that insert a ton of links at the footer of the page with the same color as the background... Unless you discover how the links are going to be placed exactly (don't care about HOW they are going to be placed but WHERE) this question don't have a true answer.
