SEO question about Indexing and Ranking

Hey guys, this is my situation, I work in a local niche and trying to rank my website for local keywords. About a week ago I made some kw landing pages, got them indexed and bought a bunch of links for them (that was 5 days ago), but those pages are not ranking for keywords, instead, the homepage ranks for all of them (because it's a blog and those blog posts were included on the homepage for some time). How long does it take Google to re-index my website and rank appropriate pages for those keywords? I have some kickass on page SEO on those pages.

Were the posts hosted on the homepage or were the pages just linked on your homepage?

If the content was placed purely on your homepage, you may want to check GSC, fetch and render your site and go from there.

PS - Surely you understand that buying links isn't going to benefit you in the long-run?

Links and 5 days should tell you something. It can take weeks sometimes to get links naturally indexed and then start appearing.
Also depends on which tool you're using as to how often they update results.

Buying links has been (and will always be) a sure-fire way to get penalised by Google. In the short-term, sure, go ahead. But, in the long-term, Google will catch you. Just as they did with thousands of other sites (if not millions) during 2013, 14 and 15.

If your content was on your homepage and you've moved them to new links, Google has to re-index them completely. Have you set your canonical tags on your content and left links on your homepage which the bots can follow to find your newly moved content?

Nope, I just added content as blog posts and since they are visible on the homepage too the main page was ranking.

About using links, what do you think, the whole marketing world stopped using backlinks and they're just ranking naturally?

World didn't change. Google is just better at identifying links that appear to be purchased and devaluing those links. Enough of those links without having other links that are natural or appear to be natural and you will get a penalty, algorithmic or manual. The goal is to have balance. In Google's words, build a great website and people will naturally link to you.

As for your question. I have years of experience dealing with this specific issue. Google will choose the page that it believes to be the most relevant. Up until about 2012 you could better refine your content on a subpage dedicated to that topic, get a few links to that page and within about 14 days you would see a swap of the serps from your homepage to the new targeted page, then the targeted page climb the ranks assuming you are getting enough external juice and authority.

These days it's a bit tricker, especially if you have a lot of content on your home page that is relevant to the targeted page. Your homepage is now in competition for your targeted page.

• Give it a bit more time. A week is just too short of a time to have google react, especially if your a small site.
• Create some balance to your links by natural links. Research the links of your competitors and see if you can mimic what they do.
• Add more content and relevant images to your targeted page
• Add value to the user beyond just content, could be a widget tool or something for your niche on that page.

Oddly enough i'm doing the opposite of this right now. I'm reducing the number of landing pages, trying to target more landing to my homepage.

I don't know what links you're talking about ( bunch of links) but the word "bunch" tells me that it has to do with low-value links purchased in bulk.

There's a lot of risk practicing this kind of link building tactics.

Indexing with google takes a bit of time with new websites.

If your blog is ranking and you want your landing pages to rank instead, you'll have to delete the blog and associated text, and wait for the links pointing to the the landing pages to get indexed.

That's the only way it will work the way you want it to work.

I think time's a factor in all of this as well. How's your situation now? Keep analyzing & watching how it grows.
Hopefully it will grow in the results And yeah, purchasing those stuff can only make you wonder if that's the reason Google's acting the way it is.

It's not a new website, it's 3 years old and ranking for some keywords. When I say I bought a bunch of links, I don't mean crappy low-value backlinks, I bought them from a trustworthy guy who sells his PBN links at a good price. I've seen people rank with those links, plus, what you need to understand that I'm not trying to rank in the US, it's a local serp (very low competitive), sites are still ranking with newly made web 2.0s here, that's how ridiculous Google is in my country.

I think you need to build more links to your site and use social media support. Because Google recrawls the social media at first. So it has some chance to re-index asap. Also, your links should be valuable and unique for these days. Google wants that too. So at first, you need to study the rules of the Google and do anything which relates to ranking.

I think you need to create new site map of website, will defiantly helpful for reindexing and make shore that only optimize each page with single keyword. Keywords stuffing is harmful for Google SERP.

If your links are solid, just give it a bit more time. Some smaller sites Google takes a while to crawl and update. If you don't see something after 14 days, then rethink.

so a week ago you made the landing posts
then you say they were there for some time?
then you bought a bunch of links

sounds like a recipe for page 10

that aside, I see you say you are in a country where you may still get away with those things. As long as your posts have a good title and h1 with your relevant kw and is obviously more targeted than anything on the home page simply give it some time. perhaps build an exact kw anchor to the post url.

I already did everything you mentioned, only 2 keywords showed up ranking for proper pages.

yes you should wait but it bothers me that you keep saying "some time" and then you imply this is all over a weeks time. I would have set up the pages 1st week, updated them second week and did some internal links, then perhaps some external url link variations and then my first exact anchor pbn. and then wait a week or two. It seems you you might have rushed a 2-4 week project into 5-7 days. Now if the domain is established with great authority then fine. those links worry me also.... unless there were 5 of them and they were like $20-$50 each and spread out over 1-2 weeks and with carefully selected anchors I would expect to have bad results. wait a little while and repair its flaws.
