My blog is launching in a weeks time, I'm just wondering if I can do anything before the content release? After reading the newbie guides, I installed plugins on my wordpress and started researching popular keywords for my niche. I also considered getting backlinks from directories, but I thought maybe its better to leave it till later, as the portrayal of my website will be inaccurate without content on it at the moment.

So what do you guys suggest I do for the moment?

Probably you can start preparing for links you will get from (eg, forum or blog comments from site in your niche) so once your content is posted and indexed by Google, you can start getting links.

Content is much needed before starting any type of backlinks work.
After publishing contents, you can add the plug ins, start building backlinks and whatever you wants to implement.

Your quality content is key, start with that first, get indexed by the search engines then proceed with getting backlinks from directories.

If you haven't done so already, create multiple high-quality posts targeting low competition keywords and schedule them to be posted on your website. This way, your website has more of a chance to appear in the SERPs for multiple keywords when the search engines index it.

In addition to that, you can also ensure that your website has a strong internal link structure and that your posts link to other relevant posts on your website. Doing this may keep your bounce rate lower in the future.
