Just got this email from SEO Powersuit commenting on the apparent many question they get after Market Samurai stopped working and their message this was due to a Google change.

Basically they blame market samurai for lying and bad software design:

    The complete message:

What it sounds more like to me is a ploy to continue generating sales and possibly steal sales from market samurai's current/past customers.

But if this is really true... can you believe the stupidity of Market Samurai to do a thing like this?

I mean, it's not that their clients are on average 'stupid' as it comes to things Google related....

How can this not be true? Powersuite, Traffic Travis, MNF and most other keyword tools still work with google, while Market Samurai is switching over to bing, its right there for anyone to see.

The truth is they did make a error in design. Market Samurai did most things on their cloud servers, so the end user did not have to worry about proxies, ect, While good for the end user, their Business Model of a One-Time Fee could only last but so long as their client base grew. They said they pay 5 Figures a month for there servers.

While I applaud them for wanting to make the end users life easier. They should really dump some of the proxy use on the end user and stop using the cloud for most things. Its killing them because of their business model.

But perhaps then that is why there coding of the software isn't suitable and needs re-doing. It could be the software isn't capable of allowing users to run it on their own proxies with a complete overhaul of the code.

I don't know, but is the only thing I can think of.

I got the same message too. I also got an email from MS with detailed info on what they plan to do to make things right --- with the extra charges they are passing on end-users in order to access most of their previously free things. I guess it may be time for me to look at seriously at another software.

But they are not going to redo it, they are swapping to Bing. And will start charging a monthy fee to use certain parts of Market Samurai. If they were going to fix it, they would have announced that instead of losing customers in waves.

Also received this email and I have to say I'm inclined to believe what the guys at Link Assistant say. I subscribe to their rank tracker and spyglass modules and it hasn't had a single hiccup as far as I can see.

Additionally I have traffic Travis and again this is working fully with Google and I have not seen that it has been updated in the last couple of days.

Add to this list the Keyword Blaze tool which is working fine and we have covered all the bases. Keyword research, Rank Tracking, Link Analysis, Competition Analysis, all working just fine.

Looks to me that the architecture on MS could be royally screwed and lack of foresight on their part has put them in the situation they are in now.

Had 2 years good use out of it so probably won't ask for a refund unless the tool stops working without the monthly subscription.

Well, I got the same email, and I think the 'analysis' is right. The part about MS being based upon an unreliable method was even mentioned by KabanaSoft (an SEO tool developer) at the MS thread:

However, it's never been a wise move to expose your competitors' faults directly, unless you plan to bring them to the ground for good. I believe the makers of SEO PowerSuite are doing this only because they perceive MS to be critically wounded, and they have a very reliable product, albeit a bit expensive.

Add me to the group that was close to buying MS. Now I'm glad I chose TTravis and SEO PowerSuite from the getgo, but a little sad because MS has a few things going in its favor :( .
