SEO Pages Question

Say my main keyword is good and my main domain is carsgood.com

I want to now rank well in the SERPS for one of my main pages, not my home page. The keyword I want to rank this page for is good articles. I can either set the page name as carsgood.com/articles or carsgood.com/goodarticles or carsgood.com/good-articles

Since the main keyword (good) is already in the main domain, will it help my ranking if it is also in the page name? In your opinion, which one of the 3 choices above should be the best to rank for the keyword good articles?

I will appreciate any input. Thank you!

There is no proof that keyword rich URLs have any influence on rankings, but there have been mentions that it can effect serp CTR. I would suggest running with what you feel works for you and your visitors. /good-articles would be my choice.

To rank well for the inner page, I'd suggest some link building to that page with keyword targeted anchor text - Good Articles
 
I vote for good-articles as well. Jury is out on import but the effect is minor compared to backlinks and SEO efforts.

There are too many variables for any proof. Domain trust/authority, age, links, on-page, internal linking, etc. Keyword rich domains, yes. Good practice, yes. I have clients at #1 without rewriting urls.

I would be interesting in seeing how this can be tested back to back.
 
Generally speaking, positioning the "keyword" in the beginning of the sentence will be the first step.
As my second step, I would be using "good-articles" as the file name (written in the URL).
Yes, it's important to have the keyword added to the title of that page as well.

The number of variables we have show proof for BOTH sides. Ultimately, competition will determine
how much "On-page" and "Off-page" SEO is required to better ranking.
 
Awesome. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts. I have one more quick question. Why would you choose the option with the - in the middle of the words instead of simply using carsgood.com/goodarticles? Please share your facts and/or opinions. Thanks!

I think anchor text based backlinks to this page will determin weather it get good ranking amusing it has good and original seo articles on it.
 
although I believe there's no obvious evidence on this or that, I'd give my vote for the 3rd choice, /good-articles, I tried it before, and for some reason it works better

You want to use the minus - sign in your filenames and directory paths because it tends to be interpreted by search engines as a space. In other words, since a machine can't differentiate between words, (ok, it can to a degree) hyphenating the words helps the search engine understand that they are meant to be separate words.
