SEO package vs PBN posts?

I have a fairly new site, the domain is exact match citystate.com, and the site has great content. I am trying to get ranked for this, don't have many backlinks yet, mostly local SEO up to this point. I have decent on-site optimization so far, but it's time to start getting some traffic. I have a small budget to get started, but am looking at a few of the affordable SEO packages here on BHW.

My budget will only allow me to have one package right now. So, do I go with a more balanced SEO package like this: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...imization-social-media-page-optimization.html

or better with a PBN package like this:

My keywords get decent traffic, but are fairly low-medium competition. I already rank for most of them in the top 100, some are top 50. So, I don't think it will take much to get to top 10. My competitors are not doing much SEO, their sites suck, but they have a lot of authority, mainly because of old domains and a few hundred backlinks.

There are about 20 or so really good backlinks I will be doing on my own from local sources, some .gov and .edu in there.

1st- Dont ruin your website with random BHW packages.

2nd- You write about a certain city in a certain (USA) state? Lots of option. Few years back my wife wrote a small article how she managed to http://www.projecteve.com/how-i-got-12k-visitors-new-blog/ on a new website (also country/city related). I remembered this method few days ago and contacted some FB pages , to see if I will get visitors to some other (also travel related) site.

3rd- An infographic with some tastefully presented facts will also bring in both organic links and shares.

Do you think those packages I linked to would ruin my site? I don't want that, but those are highly rated (especially the PBN).

Your advice is good, infographics and videos are definitely in the plan. The quizzes are a great idea, too, especially for FB. Might play with that a bit.

Why dont you try and tell us here when you see the results? I never tried it and I sure wont

You should be carefully picking link types to send to your websites. SEO packages could look complex but they would often boil down to a couple of quality links such as blog posts and web2.0s.

ok, some people have, like BigBuddy with the PBN, that's why I even considered it.

I really don't have ANY links at this point, paid or otherwise (beyond local SEO). I was thinking one of the services might be able to give me a basic link profile, and then I go after my high quality links in my niche myself. I'm not expecting miracles, but just something that fills out the bottom levels of my profile.

What I'm getting from you guys is that it's best to build links myself, the old fashioned way.

Actually they are not saying you must do the link building yourself(outsource your work but try and be the captain of your ship), if you are low on budget its advisable to play it safe with affordable options like building some strong Mini authority network(manual web2.0) but if you have a little more cash you can invest into building your own PBN which is becoming more affordable if you know what and where to get your stuffs from.
Keep in mind that you need other link types too, don't be too aggressive with the link packages. Incase nobody mentioned it to you, get some social signals too.(if you have a total of 200 links pointing to your site double that amount with social signals across your site).

I will work on building links in the meantime, I do have a few social signals, that's something I can work on.

If you use the BHW marketplace carefully and use it as a "supermarket" to buy some links ala carte it isn't a bad thing. Success is 50% strategy (keywords, density, velocity, etc, etc) and 50% links. Not all the things on the marketplace are crap, that is blatantly untrue. But some truly are bad, but some are great. But I've found some good people to work with through the market here. OP's problem sounds like a lack of the strategy portion of the equation, not the links (which come easy).

Well, lack of strategy is partly there, though I do have a rough strategy working. The links are not the only thing I have going, they are just one component of a much larger campaign.

The big issue is telling which providers are decent, which are crap, and not ruining my sites in the process. Would you be able to share with me (PM or whatever) what sources you find to be good?

do you have a good guide for getting started with this?

building your own is a better long term solution.

My best mehtod is copying other people in my niche. So sometimes you get social orientated niches that seem to favour social signals, use that, some have lots of image links.. copy that... I then double or triple the amount the #1 guy uses.
